AOL Most Violent Cities In Each State Per 10,000- What Is Yours?

Some of the higher number states are shocking! I thought one city was most violent in our state and got it wrong, although it was close to my guess.

I think I heard last night Indianapolis was 13th in the country - I believe it - horrible things are happening up there. They need to get a handle on it - everywhere!

Yes! I was surprised by Boise Idaho, Eugene Oregon, Sioux Falls, SD, Billings, Montanna, Pueblo, Colorado, Odessa Texas.

I have to say I'm mildly surprised at my state. I was very surprised about South Bend, Indiana.

@itiswhatitis Pueblo, Colorado is an old defunct steel mill town with old buildings, homes and abandoned mills. It just looks like a high crime area. Odessa, Texas is the home of most of the Permian Basin's blue collar oil field workers. They are a rough crowd. It's sort of like a Yukon gold mining town in character. The white collar workers mostly live 20 miles East in Midland.

That surprised me. I don't know why, it just did. We used to have older relatives that helped settle that city before it became a state but they are long gone now.

I'm amazed the city I live in isn't listed. There's at least 2 shootings here every night - no kidding. Morning news is not at all fun to listen to.

I had no idea violent crime was high in Honolulu. And I'm surprised nothing in Los Angeles is on this list.

@Kachina624 We get a lot of pipeline workers and frackers here at our campground and , boy oh boy - you are right about them being a rough crowd.This summer they aren't doing much with the fracking and pipelines in this area and I think us senior citizens are very glad they aren't here. They are building a huge Cracking facility near here and we have construction workers but they are much milder in deemeaner.

I was surprised about several of the cities on the California list. I was born there and lived there until about 25 years ago. Things must have really gone downhill since I left!

They each had a common thread....human encroachment and mass amounts of humans living in close quarters. Less nature replaced by concrete jungles, high decibal noise and all that is induced by mankind and against the natural order of nature. I am doing some research calling this "rats in a cage" syndrome. Similar events happen when any species over populates and fights break out over less avaiable resources. (Be it jobs, food, water, etc) Will let ya'll know of my results although I am sure some of it will not be well received. Is a fact humans are over-populating and over time less resources will result in increased violence.

@itiswhatitis I wasn't surprised about Anchorage. Crime rose significantly when folks flooded the state for pipeline jobs.

Remember, states tend to get many of the dregs from other states when $$ jobs open up.

My city is not on the list, either.
