Nylons or Leggings Please!!

I don't mean to belittle any of the hosts or models, but now that they are

showing winter clothes, those bare legs look a lot out of place.

Especially when you have really fair skin like many of us do.

Nobody wears nylons anymore unless they are black, which to me is very unprofessional where I live. So leggings would look funny with the pretty clothes some wear.Another style change I have to get use to.

When wearing a dress or skirt, I still feel more comfortable and well-dressed in stockings/leggings. But I realize that I am a dinosaur where leg coverings are concerned.

Hose are very old fashioned, I live in the Northeast and most women go bare legged all year round, I wear dresses all the time and the last time I wore panti hose was aon New Years Eve

On the rare occassion I wear a dress I wear stockings. Even tanned my legs are sorta' ugly and look better with hose. So what if they aren't in fashion. Makes me feel better and that is who I dress for.

I still wear both and always will and I'm nowhere near retirement age. Not sure when someone decided nylons were not to be worn anymore or when they became passe.

I think it looks ridiculous unless you are in a summer dress which you would never wear to most workplaces. To me, it looks like you ran out of the house half dressed.

I'm also in the "dinosaur" category! To me, bare legs in the cold months just aren't a good look....I don't care if it's "fashionable". Just my opinion.

I don't know, but I'm over 40 and don't think bare legs look out of place. I cannot remember the last time I wore nylons, but it would be quite a few years ago.

I was in a wedding party 2 summers ago and the bride didn't want any of us wearing nylons for her mermaid themed wedding - she bought us all aqua fishets. (The dresses were floor-length, so it didn't really matter, but she wanted a picture with all the bridesmaids hiking our skirts up to our knees and showing the fishnets.) The bride was 28 at the time.

I think a lot of it has to do with where you live. I live in Ohio. IMO nothing looks more stupid than bare legs on a cold and/or snowy day. Your legs end up beet red and full of goosebumps. People here wear some kind of hosiery whether it's tights or pantyhose or they wear pants. Occassionally I see someone with bare legs.

If you are opposed to pantyhose, there are all kinds of tights. Some people think of thick when they think of tights but you can find sheer tights that can be worn with just about anything. There are also patterned tights and I'm seeing more people wearing fishnet hosiery again too, although I'd not wear that to my job. LOL

I have always thought that the sleeveless, bare legged look is silly in the dead of winter.

I seldom wear a dress anymore, however when I do, nylons are a must for me.

Dressing is up to the individual, whatever you are comfortable doing is your own business.

To those of you who think pantyhose look old fashion, I think bare faux tan legs look ridiculous with business or dressy attire. I'm all for bare legs in the summer with sandals.

Those that complain pantyhose are uncomfortable, you are wearing the wrong size. A good quality silky pair of hose feel senuous. They make your legs look nicer and your shoes fit so much better. (no ugly blisters)

Duchess Kate has reintroduced many ladies to pantyhose.

I don't think many women under 50 even know what "nylons" are. The hosts are in a studio playing make blelive winter. Why the heck should they put pantihose on for that? And what's so wrong with pale legs? I find it offensive when people fault others for something that is normal and natural and nothing to be concerned about. Most of us have legs that match the rest of our skin....lol Why should we hide that? If I remember correctly, when winter really comes, the hosts will wear thin black tights with their skirts. Some might wear sheer pantihose but I doubt it. They'll go bare legged and the pantihose debate will come up again. Like it always does...lol

Exactly. We aren't talking about going to a mart store and buying the hose that come inside an egg.

Wear nice slacks or jeans, it solves the problem.

You can look tailored, dressy or casual.

I thought the host was appropiately dressed for the show. There was one show she hosted with Bob Mackie and was wearing ripped jeans. For one, that was not a good choice for his classy show and, if you know Mr. Mackie, he does not like blue jeans of any kind, ripped or not. So to see the host wearing appropriate attire today was more than welcome in this case.

Trust me, there are very few women who have legs that look that great without hose. In the summer bare legs are nice because you can tan them. In the winter if I'm wearing a dress/skirt, I will have dark sheer hose or tights. The models DON'T all have pretty legs either.

Anything else looks stupid. Yes stupid because for sure you are freezing and your legs are splotchy. Please explain what is comfortable or attractive about that? Especially in heels that are killing you with no hose!!!!

I suspect the men prefer hose to red splotchy legs any day!
