My sister in law and her husband are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. This is a couple who has everything. Any ideas? Thanks.

Depending on where you live: NY - dinner and a show or lunch/matinee, dinner cruise, NJ - PAC center depending on what is there. Or, how about a weekend getaway? Congratulations on 60 yrs - that is wonderful.

Some family member must have heard one of them talk about something they'd like to do or have but didn't want to spend the money on it. If they like to take trips in the car and listen to a specific kind of music (like show tunes, 60's music, etc) I'd get them a subscription to XM Satellite radio.

If they are interested in some kind of sightseeing (i.e. museums (I live in the DC area) I'd get them a gift certificate (both ways) to go into the city (and return) to go sightseeing and dinner at a nice restaurant.

Think outside of the box I'm saying. When I give gifts (which I love to do) I like to give something the person would love to have and could buy it for themselves but hate spending the money for it. That's the best gift of all. Many people can afford things but they consider it frivolous to buy it, that's where I come in and buy it....it's a gift that keeps giving....(get it).

I can think of lots of things like that. Have Uber take them to a restaurant, give them a gift certificate for the meal and have Uber pick them up! Stress free! If they like a few drinks they don't need to worry about driving home!

If they have everything, then give them a memory. Not knowing what they like, I'll throw out some ideas. Take them to a play, then to dinner. Take them where they went on their first date. Do something with their wedding photo. Create an album with personalized notes and photo's.

I recently had a beautiful quilt/throw embroidered with the names and dates of a couple celebrating their 50th. They said it was a perfect gift that they are using.

Donate something to their favorite charity? Host a party in which guests recall in detail special times with the couple? Make a book about their lives together. Use pictures and get letters fro notable people in their lives, their family members, people about whose lives they have made a difference? These books can be bound by film developing companies. Have an artist do a portrait of the couple, or their family. Send them a special tree or two to plant if they still live in a house. Have fun with it!

Hi recipeholic!

My Parents just celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in May. My Dad is 92 and Mom will be 87 in December.

They DO NOT want ANY more "Household Gifts" no more "Chachkies" of any kind period.

Two years ago, they downsized from their 6 Bedroom House. Moved into a 1 Bedroom, Living Room, Dining Room and Full Kitchen Assisted Living Apartment.

Is you sister and her husband still driving? Are they able to go out for a nice lunch?

Do they live in a City or in the Burbs?

Why I am asking this is because...

If they live in a City, ALL Resturants deliver.

You can get them "-4- Seperate Gift Certificates" to FOUR different Resturants. Lunch provided by "You" once a week for a month.

My parents still enjoy receiving flowers.

They later donate the vases, to the arts and crafts department where they are living.

Hope this gives you a few ideas.

Send them back to their "honeymoon hotel" if it still exists. Places like the Waldorf and Palmer House are still around...........................

Do they belong to a church or synagogue? Maybe have a celebration after services and welcome members in the fellowship hall for a luncheon or just dessert and coffee. Ask the Pastor or Rabbi if family and friends can speak on their memories, put a video of pictures together of their life.

If you don't want to do anything like that I liked jewelwisher ideas.

If you want to do something quirky and fun (if they are not shy) you could do a game like the Newlywed Game show and see if they can answer each other's questions....
