Christmas Cards

I am very fussy about my Christmas cards. I feel it's the only time of year I keep in touch with people. I saw a religious card I like and my quesiton is can I send a religious card to people that have different beliefs without offending tham ?

Send what you like and enjoy. There will always be dislikes from people for just about everything. That's life.

I wouldn't. This has come up with friends of ours and it is offensive to them.

Why would you if it's not their religion and they don't celebrate it as a religious holiday?

I always get two sets of cards and stamps. One is religious, one is winter themed Seasons Greetings or Chanukah.

If money is a consideration, Target carries an inexpensive variety of very nice holiday cards imo.

This is only my opinion, but if you have any doubts about certain people being offended, don't send them a card. I would just send them a " holiday" letter. That way you can send greetings without any Christmas card.

I have been to other religious services other than my own and they all believed in God. I'm sure you know which ones that don't.

I usually send a few different cards. This year I've designed a card that turned out really well. Just my tree from last year, but that is in the background and the main image is of my cat Claire, basking in the light of the tree and looking totally serene. Message: peace and joy.

Often I do send religiious cards to family, but not to people who are of a different faith than I. The tree is there, though. I just thought it made a pretty picture. There is nothing more peaceful than Clairey.

It's Merry Christmas for me! For some of my friends of various religions, it's called something else. Some are even totally BAH HUMBUG! No matter what, I love to spread the joys of the season. My friends spread their joy as well. None of us are offended at all!

Send what you like, I cannot believe that anyone would be offended by any form of holiday cheer, no matter what your religion, creed or belief.

I think that if I had people on my list that I know did not celebrate Christmas, but I still wanted to send a greeting card, there are now a lot of great ones out that simply address the 'season' and if someone is offended by being wished a happy season, filled with peace etc. then I'd simply take them off my list altogether.

If you know a specific religion that some do celebrate, I would think it appropriate to choose a card to that specific holiday only, and not send them one referencing 'your' holiday.

If you even THINK they MIGHT be offended - why chance it?

The card is supposed to make the recipient happy, so I would stick with a winter theme, if I had people I wasn't sure about.

Save the religious cards for people who attend your church or whose faith you know is compatible with your's.

I have always purchased a box of religious cards and one secular, i.e., winter-themes like holly, cardinals, winter scenes, along with religious and secular postage stamps. I then send accordingly. I know my friends' religions, and if I'm not sure of someone new on my list, they get a secular card and stamp. No fuss. No muss.

I'm always aware of the beliefs of those to whom I send cards, and tailor what I send based on that knowledge. I have either two sets of cards, or assorted cards with assorted messages that fit assorted individuals. I'm not a one-size-fits-all sort of person.

That's true as well, but I was thinking native born Americans. Many Americans celebrate Christmas as a time to get together and enjoy being with friends and family. They enjoy Santa, Christmas trees and decorations, the exchange of gifts, caroling, Christmas Dinner, and other aspects of the holiday without bringing specific aspects of Christianity into their celebration and enjoyment.
