I was just wondering if anyone else has had a change in the colors or foods or pretty much anything else that you like as you have aged.

I am 43 and I have NEVER in my life liked anything pink. But now, with my complete salt & pepper hair I have found that pink really brings out the beauty of the nice silver in it. I've been buying a few more things in pink and my son has even noticed.

So far that's about the only change I've really noticed but I'm sure more will be coming along in time.

How about you?

My Mom had grey silver hair and back then she used to wear dark tops. I was sitting at her kitchen table one day and said "you know Ma I would love to see you in pink and light pastel tops". Sure enough the next time I visited her out came the pink top-she looked really pretty-she even liked it!

Talk about change-my decoration of my house went from 21 years old-1970's country to now an elegant french country stye -no primitives for me.

I used light colors and pastel soft tints in my home also.

I'll bet the compliements keep coming for you!

I think if we are growing and maturing and expanding our horizons, we will like new things throughout our lives, be it food, colors, styles in fashion or home decor.

I tend to like my things for a very long time, but I'm always finding things that didn't used to appeal to me, that now do.

Thinking about it ~~~~~ I can't think of anything.

My color sense and style developed/evolved and matured by my early 20s and I still dress in a similar fashion and color palette now that I'm older and retired. (I worked in the same type environment my whole working life.) Now fewer dresses and more pants ... but same styles and colors.

I've always dsiliked floral prints ... still dislike them. I've always loved animal prints and abstract prints ... still wearing them. I always loved accessories ... still love accessories.

I've always liked my food on the spicy side - still do. Since It's just me now ... I don't have to take any else's tastes into account, so I do make more "flavorful" foods.

At age 60 I find less is best. I wear less jewelry, less makeup, classic, more simple apparel. I like things less complicated now. That has been the most noticeable change over the past 10 years.

Growing up, I was a really picky eater. If something didn't appeal to me, you could not get me to even take one small bite of something. I'm still a picky eater and refuse to try certain things but, at the same time, I eat far more foods than I did as a kid.

My taste in colors really haven't changed much. I never did care for all the girly pinks & purples and still don't althought I've had a purple top or two over the years. I never liked the color green. I just didn't think it was pretty and my mom LOVED it (Green carpeting, appliances, furniture, clothing, etc.). I'm still not a huge fan of it but, again, I have had a couple of green clothing items over the years. I was never into Orange but I've been on an orange kick the past couple of years. You see a lot more of it than you used to in clothing & accessories.

I used to love antiques and collected many over the years, I'm fast approaching my late sixties and I'm not interested in my collection any more. I view it as clutter now and am slowly getting people to take the stuff off my hands. I still like to look youthfful so I'm still into the fashion, but age appropriate and since my hair has not changed much in color and my skin is good I wear just about any color that suits me.

I've always preferred neutral colors in my wardrobe. Since the clothes I like tend to be on the more expensive side, this works out for my budget. I buy pieces that are more versatile and less memorable.

Always have, it's my favorite color but boy do I NOT look good in it!

*************************

@CaryH

They say the trick is to not put a color that doesn't look good on you next to your face. Use it for an accessory, like a handbag or maybe a ring or bracelet.

True, this is what I was told as well. But it also depends on the *shade* of a color. People should know/learn whether their complexion is cool or warm-toned, then while shopping and looking at colors, find a tone/shade in that color you *can* wear.

I look horrible in any red that has any sort of yellow or orange undertone but I can wear blue-reds just fine. I can't wear strong yellows, but a pale butter yellow is fine.

As far as "things" we collect, decorating tastes, etc., I think it's natural for tastes to change and I'm not sure that has to do all that much with age per se.

My taste buds have certainly changed, and I enjoy foods and sauces I used to dislike. Also as we age we start (in our 40s) to lose our taste buds and may need more seasonings to compensate. For most of my life I never used salt or pepper at all. Now, I need a bit of salt on some things like potatoes and veggies.

I have known for a while that my taste in scents (perfume) has changed dramatically and that scents I once loved and wore often now don't do a thing for me. Our body chemistry can change. As a side note to the body chemistry thing - fleas and mosquitoes used to see me as a banquet hall and I had severe reactions to bites. Now, I rarely get bitten and the reactions are generally inconsequential. Huge difference that hormones, or not having them, can make.
