Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

There is always something to thank God for. Lord, may my attitude of
gratitude last a lifetime.

Scripture for the day:

"O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love
endures forever." ~Psalm 106:1

Meditation for the day:

Gratitude to God is the theme of Thanksgiving Day. The pilgrims
gathered to give thanks to God for their harvest which was pitifully
small. When we look around at all the things we have today, how can we
help being grateful to God? Our families, our homes, our friends; all
these things are free gifts of God to us. "But for the grace of God,"
we would not have them. God gives us this day too, to rest and to give
thanks.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be very grateful today. I pray that I may not forget
where I might be but for the grace of God.

Hello my friends! Wow! Hot again - up in the 90's and got the AC going for
the first time - too hot in the patio. Supper was a great salad - made
with our fresh lettuce.
It was very filling - and I had chicken out, but that's all he wanted so I
put it away for tomorrow. Then after Supper we went to Lori's house to
water her garden and flowers, my goodness does the granite chips ever look
nice there - she will be so pleased when she gets home tomorrow sometime.
She will be bringing that old piano accordion for me to play - but I just
wonder if it will still work after all these years. It is truly an antique.
I sure hope so. No one there knows how to play it, so they don't know if
it's still working. I'll find that out tomorrow. When we were at Lori's
tonight, the weather was just perfect! While it was being watered, we sat
on her deck which is by a big tree and shaded, and it had cooled down. She
has a beautiful yard, bigger than ours, ours is quite small, but big enough
for us. Her cat, Phoebe, wanted to come outside for a bit, so we let her,
she just stayed around by the deck, checked out the new granite chips, and
when I thought she should come back in, I told her to and she came right
away. Good kitty! My blessings today were many - too many to mention, lots
ordinary every day blessings, but I'm not taking them for granted - I praise
and thank God for them every day.

Being a Christian - Is it Impossible?

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE POOR

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to
the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people
can be.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be
considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was
the trip?" "It was great, Dad." "Did you see how poor people can be?"
the father asked. "Oh Yeah" said the son. "So what did you learn from
the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered, "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We
have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek
that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the
stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole
horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields
that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve
others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property
to protect us,they have friends to protect them."
With this the boy's father was speechless. Then his son added,
"Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are."

Too many times we forget what we have and concentrate on what we
don't have. What is one person's worthless object is another's prize
possession.
It is all based on one's perspective. Makes you wonder what would happen
if we all gave thanks for all the bounty we have, instead of worrying about
wanting more. Take joy in all you have, especially your friends.

The Fence

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag
of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a
nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the boy had driven six nails into the fence. Over the next few
weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered
daily gradually dwindled. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper
than to drive those nails into the fence...

Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his
father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail
for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that
all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to
the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in
the fence!"

The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a
scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It
won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. A
verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.

The Seventeen Evidences of a Lack of Humility

1. To think that what one says or does is better than what others say or do

2. To always want to get your own way

3. To argue with stubbornness and bad manners whether you are right or wrong

4. To give your opinion when it has not been requested or when charity does
not demand it
