My family members in Orlando and Tampa had a rough night, with all the wind and endless rain. My daughter in Connecticut was planning to go to Block Island, off Rhode Island, but wisely canceled her plans. She and my granddaughter will just have to hunker down and stay home. Meanwhile, here in upstate NY, we are experiencing a record drought. I am terrified that our well will run dry.

SC here. Have had high winds and 3'' of rain and are expecting another 3. In somewhat of a lull right now but forecast for tonight doesn't look great. We are now under a tornado warning. Glad we still have power and a/c. Stay safe everyone!

I live in Joisey. So far in the part of Joisey I live in, we will be getting 70 mph winds starting Saturday evening. I am 80 miles from "the shore," live in a highrise which sits on top of a hill.

The hurricane will be out to sea heading away from land. But, since the ocean is "warm" which is unusual, the hurricane will get stronger. The Joisey shore areas will be the hardest hit due to the winds, beach erosion, tides & flooding (and those who have no insurance).

My car is covered w/grass & mud from the landscapers who do our property. I am hoping for a good soaking so I won't have to go the car wash.

@Vivian, I hear you about the well. I'm in Nova Scotia and it has been a drought summer, very unusual for us. Well is ok for us but some are having to bring in water by truck for their wells.

We have a tropical storm watch here until around midnight tonight. Other than maybe some big puddles tomorrow ... I can't see a problem for my immediate area.

I hope the tropical storm cools its jets before it gets to you. Is 80 miles from shore enough to prevent windows in 2nd story buildings from blowing out?

Where I live on the coast (Cape Cod), we're not getting the storm but plenty of rain from Sunday on. The Cape needs the rain because everyone's grass is brown and it's been very dry here.

My youngest daughter is supposed to visit the Outer Banks this weekend with her boyfriend and his family.

Checking in from Long Island -- that fish shaped island off of NYS -- there is a tropical storm watch posted for our area and we are expecting winds of about 50-60 MPH by us; our eastern end will get rain as it heads towards the Cape Cod area.

We are in danger of a power outtage w/70 MPH winds due to trees falling on power lines. My complex has back up generators so losing power will not be an issue. Most of us here have landlines, so no worries there to stay in touch w/those who have cells that have not "died" yet.

I live in the boonies, so I will be in danger of tree limbs flying around & crashing through my windshield.

My town & county are surrounded by rivers, ponds & lakes. So flooding will be an issue if we get a down pour which "may" last for 2 days if the storm stalls.

I did my food shoping this morning. If I waited till Sunday, I would need to walk to the bottom of the hill & hop on a passing tree log, canoe or my neighbor's kayak to get to the supermarket.

Hey @riley1, Just a little above you in NC. We've had rains (sometimes hard) for 2 days, and winds. The winds are supposed to go up to 50 mph tonight with more rain. We're under a tornado watch for most of the night.

The newscasters were pathetically looking for big news today. Luckily here on the SC coast it was just a long windy storm. Debris down but nothing major. Wish the news stations would stop the drama. It makes people numb for the really dangerous hurricanes.

am in Delaware. Under tropical storm warnings till next week Wednesday.

Have heard anywhere from spits of rain to over 8 inches of rain. Winds are being for called for about 40 sustained with high gusts towards the beach area.

all the talk here, is the beaches are going to take a pounding.

the weather guessers here are calling this a bad nor'easter.

@colliegirls, what was forecasted for your area of SC? I personally am glad they go over board. Even when they do that, people still don't listen to what they're told. Super Storm Sandy proved that.

Weather forecasting is not an exact science. Better safe than sorry. It's their job.

Wishing everyone in Harm,s Way a safe passage through Hermine. We went through Hurricane Sandy here on Long Island. It was tough not having power for 11 days. But, this is a much warmer time than Sandy. Stay safe and think positive.

I heard rip tides are bad! Be careful if you go out before the rain! I love The Cape! My dd and grand just returned! I was too sick to go!😢 (Bronchitis). Can't wait til next year! My in laws began going in 1960 and the family has only missed a few summers since! Usually we go to Red Jacket in S. Yarmouth. Wher on Cape are you? Stay safe!

Sorry to say, we're 70 miles in land and have had many problems from coastal storms! If there's any doubt, choose safety! Good luck and God bless everyone in harms way!

My parents usually stay at our house (NC coast) most of the summer as we head up north. They packed up and left Wednesday. My sister stayed--she liWe're s in the same town. Street flooding in areas and some power outages but no damage.

Here at the shore it's WINDY and a few drops here and there. We were surprised there wasn't a mass exodus leaving when we ran to Lowe's around ten. We're scooting out and heading to my sister's (near QVC) but will drive back tomorrow and Monday just to see if everything's okay. Neighbors aren't freaked out and some got water during Sandy.

It is FREEZING here too!
