Please help me out! I keep hearing one weather guy call it" Her-mean" . I heard others call it " her-my-knee" like the Harry Potter character. Which is correct?

If it's the Harry Potter character it's spelled Hermione.

The weather people or who ever it is that names the storms left the O out.

It's Her-Mean. It's not the same name as Hermione. I think it looks close enough that it's confusing people. After years of Harry Potter movies teaching us how to say Hermione as Her-my-knee, we see Hermine and get it wrong. I did the same thing when I saw it this morning, then looked again and realized I was saying the wrong name. Think of it like Laura and Laurie. Similar looking, but not the same.

Google gives "her mee nah" - it's a feminine form of Herman -- not Hermione like the Potter chareacter.

I never knew anyone with that name.

Well, you know what they say.... " A hurricane by any other name....."

IMO, I think the people who come up with the names are just a bunch of blow hards, and the name thing has "spun" out of control......on the other hand, meteorologists are under a lot of pressure right now ( low to be exact). You know what I call them? Spin doctors-although most have their masters....ok, I have got to stop the silly weather jokes....

It is Her-mean...it is not a hurricane though. I expect it will breakup as it goes over the middle of the state. Flooding will be a problem because it is moving slow...I hope I don't get flooding because I live on the river and about 12 years ago I had to use a canoe to get out of the condo complex. Hopefully the state will have enough emergency personnel to help those who will need it.

A guy here at camp says that the H storm was originally supposed to be Hilary but they had to change it because of the election.

@Bjjo At least you actually know somebody with that name. I thought the NWC made it up.......in my 67 years this is the first time I've even heard of it!
