Ryan Lochte, et. al: THEY LIED

A Brazilian police official has told The Associated Press that American swimmer Ryan Lochte fabricated a story about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro.

The official said Lochte's teammates Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz, who were pulled off a plane going back to the United States late Wednesday, told police that the robbery story had been fabricated.

The official, who has direct knowledge of the investigation, spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about an ongoing investigation.

He said that around 6 a.m. Sunday, Lochte, along with Conger, Bentz and Jimmy Feigen, stopped at a gas station in Barra da Tijuca, a suburb of Rio where many Olympic venues are located. One of the swimmers tried to open the door of an outside bathroom. It was locked.

Apparently fabricated story to cover up their bad behavior (think it said at gas station where they got into a scuffle with management there after tearing a door off hinges??). Again guys, Lochte's not too swift but there's still no excuse for this and he apparently got the other 3 to go along with the story - what idiots- all of them!!!

why on earth would they lie and risk their whole career.Brazil is known for crime and poverty,why is it so hard to believe this happened ? It is so sad that Brazil would stoop so low as to destroy their life achievement for a cover up!! Everyone knows Brazil is full of crime!!!

Brazil may be "full of crime", but so is the USA. I'm confused.
