No more feather beds???

I have used a featherbed all my life. My father was from Germany and we always had one!

I just noticed that QVC doesn't sell them any more.

I need one for a too hard spare bed...I saw that they are available at Macy's and Overstock.

I wonder why QVC stopped carrying them ? or are they a seasonal product?

Anyone know...

We have featherbeds on all our mattresses. Love them and have had them for ages. One is from Q. You're right Terrier3, they seem to have become hard to find. The Company store used to carry lots of them--in fact years ago they used to offer a service in which they would clean them for you, but when I looked on their web site I noticed that they no longer carry them either. I suspect memory foam has taken over. Personally I don't like memory foam. Bought one years ago and I hated it. When I searched for 'feather bed' on Overstock, a few were displayed but mostly the site came up with 'alternative fiber' toppers. Whatever that is. Polyester fiberfill?

Check HSN. I've hearted feather beds and faux feather beds into my favorites file there and gotten them at great prices in years past. I haven't checked their inventories because I don't need another one now. i already have two. I prefer the washable ones.

I once had feather beds on all my beds and when I figured out I was never going to be able to clean them, I got rid of them. Getting rid of them was a major undertaking. I never purchased any from the Q, so I'm not sure when they stopped carrying them, but I don't know anyone who has a feather bed right now. I really liked them, but I'm not going down that road again.

They are also available at Sears, Walmart, K-Mart, BJ's & Target.

HSN had a featherbed on a couple of days ago. May have been Thursday or Friday. you might check their inventory.

Used to sleep on one when I'd stay with my grandmother, many years ago. it was so comfortable. I loved it.

Speaking of cleaning them, I'm pretty sure you can buy covers for them.

Years ago we had Northern Nights feather beds, because our mattress was old, uncomfortable and no money to replace it. I like them at first, but they got old pretty quick.

All the turning and fluffing, took forever to make up the bed,and it always looked uneven and sloppy. And they crushed after a time. Hard to get outside to hang on the line and air out (best done in the frigid weather), and no way to clean them.

I did a happy dance the day we bought a new mattress and burned those feather beds. Never again for me.

Feather beds? Makes my many times disc ruptured back hurt just reading the words. If there is a worse thing for most to keep a healthy back, I haven't a clue what it might be.

Bed Bath and Beyond and also JC Penney sell them. I have one on our guest room bed also. It makes a huge difference and when company comes they always comment on how comfortable the bed is.

It's a quilt like topper that goes on top a regular mattress.

I got my first one after sleeping at a W Hotel. They have them on all the beds - same with the Waldorf Astoria.

They are VERY comfortable, IMO.

@MomCat- I did away with mine for that reason....also my back surgeon advised me to stop sleeping on one...

@hckynut- you are quite correct. My neurosurgeon advised me to not to sleep on mine....he said they were the worst for your back

I took mine to be cleaned/washed/fluffed at the cleaners because it was too big and thick to handle in my machines. They quoted me $109 to complete the job. I ended up tossing it since I paid about $140 for the featherbed, and knew I was not going to be willing to pay that much to keep it clean.
