I love my Echo. I use it pretty much every day. It's easy to set up and there is lots of support and information on the Echo app.

I like mine. Learning more about it every day. I play music, ask it to tell me a corny joke, check the temp in my area daily. The other day I was watching a show where a character was named Alexa and it kept trying to answer-lol!

I have had it for over a year and I love it. I stream music on it daily. I also like getting the weather report. It does much more than just those two things. It is funny, sometimes it does answer the TV as another poster noted. I think it is worth having..

I have an Echo and when I purchased it, I doubted that I would use it that much but thought I would try it. I got mine on one of those Amazon special days. To my surprise, I love the Echo. I use it for a variety of things. Yes, I listen to my Prime music and I listen to my favorite radio stations via IHeartRadio. I get the weather report, and have it time a variety of things, including how long I have a mask on my face. Think of something you need from the store on the next trip. Just ask it to save it to the shopping list. You save a lot of time going to get the list to write it down or hoping to remember the item when you are making out a list. Need to look something up but away from the tablet or laptop? Just have Alexis check for you and she will give you the info. Great gadget!!! Oh, I even tell it to play workout music for a specified time.

I didn't think I would use it as much as I do, but I use it several times throughout the day.

???Do those of you who use your Echo's also carry a smart phone?

I sort of need and really want a new phone pretty soon and most of the uses described should be available on my new phone, too. Will I end up wanting both?

I also use mine daily. I love it for music through spotify. I don't have Amazon prime but get quite a bit of use from it. Weather, timer, making lists, incredibly corny jokes are only a small part. My children were hesitant about getting it for my birthday, even though I asked for it. They felt I was too electronic illiterate to use it properly. This device is very easy to use and understand, even my 7 year old granddaughter uses it. I have a smart phone too, but like the Echo better.

I am clueless. How do you get radio or music on it? There's nowhere to put in a cd, is there? And if you tell it to put something on a list, how do you print that out when you go to the store? None of that was ever explained on air.

I got my Echo as one of my Christmas gifts from my husband. I love it. I use it every day and ask it all kinds of questions, and get the weather, and news on it. And I love to dictate what music I want to hear and it responds by playing that music. I havent hooked it up to control lighting or anything but Id like to. The only downfall I have found is, once in a while the Echo doesnt know something I ask. But most of the time it does. There is so much you can get it to do.

@libbyannE Your Echo is connected to your prime account. It will play music from prime. Or you can link it to your internet music channels that you have an account with.

You can print your lists from your computer. You go to echo.amazon.com to print out your lists. If you have a smartphone you can download the Alexa app on it When you get to the store, your lists will also be on your phone at the Alexa app.

Hope that helps a bit.

@millieshops You don't have to have a smart phone. You can set everything up on Echo.amazon.com I believe. It would be really nice to have a smartphone though, but not needed.

I love mine for all the reasons mentioned here. I have one in my kitchen and a dot in my bedroom. Love them!

I have one at my store and I actually use the alarm feature at my store all the time to remind me to do things by a certain time. A must have!

My adult son has one and he uses all the features including turning the lights on and off, diming the lights, etc.

We use it all the time--especially for adding to lists and checking the weather! Neither of us mind that it collectis every conversation and sends it directly to the mother ship, or Jeff Bezos. Whichever.

I think Mima talked me into it! We would hate to be without it.

My husband won one at a trade show about 2 months ago. We have not made use of all the functions yet, but we enjoy selecting our favorite songs to play, getting the weather at our location as well as at our children's homes, setting multiple timers at once, getting measuring equivilancies without having to dirty my cookbook or laptop, and keeping an ongoing shopping list throughout the week. We have the Alexa app, so the shopping list appears on my phone. That's great, because if my husband is at home and thinks of something else we need, he just tells Alexa and it appears on my phone. I just have to remember to check my phone before I check out ! My husband checks the headlines and likes to get jokes. You have to watch the grandchildren, though. Sometimes Echo doesn't understand their music requests and may play something inappropriate. We usually end up turning it off when they are nearby. That's one drawback - getting Echo to understand everything we say.

Thank you. I don't do computer music although I have Amazon prime for free shipping. And by the time I go and print out a list, I could have grabbed the written list I keep in the kitchen and been out the door! Obviously not for me but I appreciated your explaining that. I almost bought one for my blind aunt but she has no computer so apparently this wouldn't help her at all.

P.s. I still don't see how you tipune in radio or get music. I see no keypad or anything--just a cylinder. Do you have to somehow go to your computer every time you want to play music or change a radio station?! Not very convenient, is it! As I said earlier, I am clueless despite having been using computers since 1980s. I just cannot figure this out. So, it is a receiver that operate through a computer?

I looked into it, but it doesn't play itunes playlists and I have no desire to set up new ones using my Amazon Prime nor do I listen to the radio. I gave up on Pandora because I prefer my self created playlists. I don't see what the point of it creating lists is, if they don't sync to my iphone. I already create lists on my phone which is where I need them when I'm out shopping. I'm thinking of just buying a good quality bluetooth speaker instead. I'm usually sitting at my computer or near my phone which both have weather apps.
