Ruby Tuesday to close 95 restaurants

Closing 95 of the 624 restaurants. I didn't see a list of the locations.

My husband and I eat there fairly frequently for lunch (I love their Chicken Fresco). I think they've overpriced themselves. Then they give coupons to offset the high prices.

Used to be you could get a lunch portion of Chicken Fresco. Perfect portion size, good price. Then they got rid of the lunch portion so you have to buy the $13.99 version. Doable because of the $8 coupon we use, but I'd MUCH prefer the smaller portion.

They redid the salad bar and made a big to do about the new "improved" salad bar. We don't care for the new version.

Anyway....I hate to see businesses falter.

I won't be surprised if one of them is in the mall near me. The Ruby Tuesday isn't anywhere near the food court and it's in such an out of the way location that I forget it's even there.

There are a few in our area. One is next to Olive Garden; the other is next to Bertucci's. Olive Garden and Bertucci's always have a lot of cars in their parking lots. Ruby Tuesday never has more than a few cars. It's been at least 10 years since I've been in one so cannot comment on their food.

It's never a good thing for an area when restaurants and stores close.

I have eaten several times at Ruby Tuesday's through the years and been happy with everything.

The last time I ate there (at a different location) it was horrible. The service was poor, the food bland and served too cool. Also, the salad bar was minimal as far as variety and quality. I haven't been back since.

Perhaps they are closing the under-performing locations? As with most restaurants, it's all about great management to be successful.

I used to work near one so we'd go there occasionally for lunch. The booths were so narrow, it must have been really uncomfortable for some in the group; it was uncomfortable enough for me.

The only one in my city closed around 10-15 years ago and now there are none in Texas.

I meet a friend at RT's for lunch once a month. We both thoroughly enjoy their salad bar. I sure hope our location doesn't close!!! We even have a favorite waiter, we've been doing this lunch date for so long!

The food service business is brutal and even more so in this sluggish economy. We go to the nearest one here a couple times a year and sometimes to one that's convenient when traveling. I feel sorry for the workers who will lose their jobs.

Back in the 90's, they were one of our favorite places to eat wherever we lived, but the last few years they have really gone down, with food & service, I am not surprised!

I've never eaten there. I'm very sorry for the employees who will be losing their jobs. It's extremely rare that we eat out these days. We just can't afford it. I enjoy cooking for myself and others, so, we're fine.

I've walked out twice from the bad service I've gotten. I'm not surprised at all. I think they are all gone in my city. We had three at one time.

Even though they haven't come out with the locations, we have a gift card for them and I think we will be using it this weekend.

We've learned and only get burgers, everything else is too inconsistent.

My granddaughter loves to go there with me....we were just there Wednesday....I hope ours isn't one that will be closing..it always seems busy....

We had one in my town when I lived in Utah. Went quite a few times, always enjoyed the food, and the salad bar!

I have to admit I can not even guess when I last time I was in a RT. We try to avoid chain restaurants, but I hate to see more and more sad signs of the times.

I think a pp nailed it - they out priced themselves. I have no problem paying a high $$$ for food/meals but I would not pay that in a RT based on the quality of the food.

don't get there very often. Met my neice for lunch during her workweek: the little bread rolls will be sadly missed as well as the spring rolls. That's about it.

whenever I see existing places start to go the coupon route, I know there's a problem that will get bigger: closings.

Ruby Tuesday used to be in our mall; they moved out to build a free-standing operation. Too bad it was too far from the mall. People forget where it went.

* The service was AWFUL

*Our server REEKED of cigarette smoke

*The food was DISGUSTING to the point that all of us just put it down and looked at each other.

There were four of us and we couldn't get anyone to come to the table so.. we got up and left. No one stopped or followed us out and yes, staff saw us the entire time.

Good riddance.

Oh my, they must have really changed and for the worse. When we had one in our area about 5 years ago they had the best salad bar around; nothing was too expensive. Too bad they have outpriced themselves. We still find Bob Evans a good place to eat.

@SahmIam Good Ridance is right!!! Everything you said here is the 100 percent truth! Same thing happened to us the last time we ate there. What a lousy restuarant it is. If they closed today I wouldn't miss them. Lousy food and lousy service!! We also got up and left.
