topic Adopting our foster pup and cost of spaying in Community Chat

I was trying to respond to Flunking Fostering 101 but it wouldn't let me. We fostered two pups this fall and went 1 and 2. One found a wonderful home and one we have decided to adopt. We are very happy and she is a wonderful fit with our family. My husband adores her.

My question is this. The rescue group that we volunteer for is going to charge us their standard adoption fee $175. This includes shots up to date, spay/neuter and microchip. I was talking to the director about having her spayed by our vet and had decided to do that because frankly I know our vet uses a better quality anesthesia. I understand they have to save costs at the rescue, I do.

But we can't justify paying our vet when we could have her spayed for the $175 we are going to pay. Does that make sense?

Not really sure what I am asking, I am just struggling with this decision. We do not have the extra money to spend and use our vet.
