I went with them for the FIOS service. We had Comcast which I really hated. Yes they are expensive! But customer service is really good. More then a cable company. True fiber optics. True ditgital phone. Super fast internet. They run the line in to your basement. Something Comcast can't do.

I live in a large metropolitan area that is filled with verizon subscribers. Verizon purports to have the best coverage. I was amazed at why I got so many dropped calls in my home (land line) and my Verizon phone (about 9 years ago). They could never figure it out for me.

I dropped Verizon cellular (and I have a good carrier with excellent coverage for way less money).

I have Fios (internet/tv). I used to have their landline but I dropped it because my calls would drop at any given time. My daughter still has their landline service and her calls drop. I told her to dump it. I don't miss my verizon phone services one bit.

I have no choice now. I lived in a large urban area where I mostly had ATT & was happy, but could have gone with T-Mobile or Metro PCS or Straight Talk as well.

I moved to a rural area where there is a huuuuge difference between Verizon and every other company, so I'm stuck :-(

I don't find Verizon expensive at all. My husband and I pay under $100.00 per month for 2 cell lines, unlimited texting, unlimited talking, no long distance and 6 gigs of shared data which is more than enough for us.

I would never have any other cell carrier. I know too many people with Sprint and AT&T who complain constantly about dropped calls, etc. We never have a problem.

The biggest racket Verizon has is the cell phones through say Best Buy, etc. There is no such thing as getting a phone for 1 cent. You are paying much, much more for that phone.

Ditto, except we have 8 gigs. When I was working in New Orleans post Katrina, only those of us who had Verizon had service.

Granted that was a while ago, but since I live in a majorly hurricane prone area, and only have mobile phone service - I'm sticking.

Isn't choice great?

I wish FIOS was an option where we live.

I had U-Verse, which was ATT's version of FIOS, and I loved it. But presumably because of cost, ATT no longer supports U-Verse (or will no longer, shortly) and are providing Directv for TV/internet.

I have Verizon Wireless and am going to look into FIOS. Thanks everyone for mentioning it. When I signed up for Verizon I got an immediate $200 rebate for porting in two lines (we had never before been Verizon customers).

They had another promo as well if you purchased the accessories for each phone that was another $200 rebate which we also received promptly.

The 3rd rebate was the buy 1 get 1 free offer. When you stop and think about it who in their right mind would pay over $1300 for two cell phones? So the buy 1 get 1 was right for us. Didn't like having to pay $672 but the $200 for porting in our numbers was a major freebie..

Had tried all the other networks and Verizon reception is the best for us.

This will actually lower my price because I have the 6 GB plan and only need 4 so I will go down in price by $10.

Well of course they try lamely to spin it, but nobody is forced to choose Verizon as a provider, plenty of other cheaper options.

Do people really think the government can prevent all price increases, and that all price increases mean inflation?

i have comcast and our cable lines come into our basement.

Just as an fyi, if you are already a Verizon subscriber, your current plan will NOT increase. This is only for new subscribers or if you change your plan.

What does capitalism have to do with inflation? Everything.

Bottom line:

Every price increase, for every item or service is not automatically inflation. It is a price increase, in a regulated industry at that, no more, no less. Regulators must have felt it wasn't unjustified.
