Shirtless Men

I really dislike seeing shirtless men in day-to-day activities. On the beach/at a pool is fine, but men who don't wear shirts at their jobs or elsewhere in public are not my cup of tea.

One particular example: an older couple (late 50s/early 60s) delivers our lttile neighborhood newspaper published by our larger newspaper. The man never wears a shirt once the weather starts to get warm and his naked top half - potbelly and all - isn't exactly the most attractive site, esp once it gets really hot out and sweat is pouring off him. He's doing his job - delivering papers, but really, please put on a shirt. Even men mowing lawns should wear shirts - their bodies just are not - with perhaps a few exceptions - very appealing.

We have many outdoor concerts / festivals going on in warmer months. I don't care to see naked-top-half men at these events either. Agree or disagree?

I've never seen a shirtless person at any local concerts/events. We live in a rural subdivision where some women choose to mow their lawn in a bikini top and shorts. If a male chooses to mow without a shirt (especially if well-built), I have no problem.

That's hilarious. The potbelly would be a deal breaker for me. However, it's not like they're going to pass an ordinance against it, Pearley. The best you can do is try not to look at them.

I'm with you but it particularly bugs me, I don't why but it does irritate me a lot, is when you're at someones house, or your own, in the summer for a barbecue and there's a pool and when it's time to sit down to eat the men come to the table in just their swim trunks. Geez, put on a T-shirt till you're done eating and ready to leave the table.

I've never seen a shirtless man out in public - at a concert or a festival. My husband mows the lawn without a shirt on so he doesn't get tan lines. Lol. But he's young and fit. A lot of guys in the neighborhood don't wear shirts to mow the lawn. They're on their property - it doesn't really bother me

We have 2-3 in our community that think they have to go shirtless! None are a pleasant sight, believe me! I really dislike looking at them but one is my next door neighbor; kinda difficult to avoid. Not a pretty sight!

My DH is a redhead so he always wears a shirt - even swimming. I have never seen a man at any event like a concert or a fair without a shirt on. The men who cut our grass in Florida always wear long sleeve shirts and long pants and very large brimmed hats and huge sunglasses. Apparently the OP needs to move to Florida.

When we lived in Pittsburgh we had a neighbor who would sunbathe in her back yard topless all the time. Both front and back tanning. I can imagine if the OP saw that ! After 42 years of nursing I am so used to seeing naked bodies I hardly even notice them anymore.

First, yes I did delete most of your post. Why? Because it had no relevance to my reply. If that offended you, sorry.

I would really like to give my whole speel on this topic, but unfortunately it would be deleted. That said.

Seems like it is not illegal for men to go sans upper body covering. It has never been one of my top 1,000 priorities to give a hoot what anyone thinks about what I wear or do not wear.

I have stated many times on these forums that my wife, at times, has told me that "I look like a homeless man". For me comfort is, at most times, my #1 priority when it comes to my dress. Now I am not someone without common sense, so I do dress differently(for certain occasions), but even then I dress for comfort, not for who says what about me.

Do I at double 7's have a "pot belly"? No I do not. Do I have the same athletic body I had at 50 years old? No I do not. The only times I went sans shirts was when I was training for a Road Race, and sometimes, part way through a 10k run.

As I said, there are many things I could say about this dress topic, but they would go "poof", and rightly so.

I have seen my share of shirtless men in public over the years and I don't like it. I don't mind shirtless men at the pool or beach, but that's about it. My son who is very fit and quite proud of his physique loves to go shirtless, but he knows better than to come to the table without a shirt.

@Pearlee Every construction worker I've ever seen be it summer or winter has had a shirt on. The only time I've seen a construction work shirtless was in a coke commercial on tv.

So yesterday about 2:30 coming towards me in the bike lane was a naked top half, white, not buff man, boobs, two spare tires, over 50 peddling as fast as he could! He was heading for a serious sunburn. I laughed until i couldnt laugh anymore. But since he was not working or hosting a QVC show it certainly did brighten my afternoon. Naked and proud!

When I had my kitchen updated, the construction workers didn't wear shirts. It was in the middle of a terrible heat wave, and I don't have air conditioning. I'm not sure whether their boss, who was very strict, would approve, but I didn't complain. I was upstairs in my office most of the day anyway. It was a very difficult time to be working a job like that. We don't get a lot of heat waves up here.

I must live in the wrong area, lol. I live in the dc area and never seen a shirtless contruction worker. Maybe I drive there at the wrong time who knows.

@BlingQueen022 It must be awful working construction in the middle of summer with a shirt on. I'd imagine a reasonable boss would let them at least wear a net tank top for modesty while still having some relief.

I find it shocking that someone had a neighbor lady who used to sunbathe topless. If she was in full view of families, that's beyond the pale. I'm surprised no one called the cops. Imagine little kids seeing that all the time.

ROFL.... just try keeping a shirt on a guy in So. Calif...

By the time they hit their 50's, they think they still look just as they did in their 20's. The only difference of course is the leather-like wrinkled skin and pot bellies....

Hey, they're comfortable and as long as they don't bother anyone....
