I just sold my 2002 Honda CRV back in May (to Carmax, not an individual) It was having power steering issues anyway among other issues. Glad I got they money I did for it. I probably wouldn't get that today with the recall. They gave me much more than I would have gotten elsewhere or as a trade in.

We have a Honda Pilot but it's a 2005.

I would prefer a vehicle without airbags. I wonder if there is a way to remove them completely.

I have a 2002 Honda CRV still going strong. Luckily I got my airbags done about a year ago when I first heard of the recall. But it took a lot of calling to Honda Corporation by me to get the parts sent to my Honda dealer so they could do it.

I think they were/are made by the same company. If so, their ability to continue to do so should be cancelled. The concept of air bags is for protection, not to enhance injuries.

To some manufacturers "buck" now is a million $$$$, and they will risk human harm and lives for that "buck" unfortunately.

I have the recalled airbags and have been waiting a long time for replacement.They told me that they are really far behind due to the large amount of recalls and are waiting for the new bags to be available.

Previously had a 2002 Acura TL. I put off taking my car back for the recall (2008-2011) until I got a phone call from Honda Corporation in California. Nice young man made all the arrangements and scheduled the appointment at a local dealer.

Don't know what made me so special...but I was surprised to get a phone call and figured if it was that important to them then I better comply.

Unfortunately that same model had problematic transmissions. Mine had an extended coverage until 2010. It failed in 2013 with 49,000 miles. I was heart sick. I loved that car. Replaced the transmission (costly) and traded it in.

I did receive an announcement from Honda about my 2009 CR-V for the airbag recall. They said I would receive another announcement when the replacements were available this summer. So far no word. I have contacted the local Honda dealer and they have not contacted me yet for an appointment to get the airbag replaced. Frustrating!

I always feel slightly uncomfortable sitting in a car with airbags. I know that they are handy in a bad accident, but I feel uneasy just driving around here and there in slow traffic. Wishing all driving (and other) safety.

I had a 2003 Accord LX-V6. It caught fire in May. The insurance company give me the ACV for the car. I brought a Civic.

I have a 2012 Honda Civic. I received a notice regarding a recall. Have called the dealer several times. Get the same answer....we don't have the parts yet. Also very frustrating. Sure hope I don't have an accident before the repair.

The factories can not make the replacement airbags fast enough, because the recall is so HUGE.

That's why it's taking so long!

It's simple SUPPLY & DEMAND.

The DEMAND is bigger than the SUPPLY.

I saw a news story yesterday. Some customers were send a letter from Honda telling them to not drive their cars. This can be a problem in any large city where you have alternate side of the street parking.

What the h are people supposed to do or has Honda said they will pay the rental bill until the car is repaired?

If I had received the "do not drive" letter from Honda (I have a Prius) they Would provide me with a loaner ASAP or I would use the media (consumer watch shows) or go all the way to the CEO. I have only had 2 serious issues in all my years of driving but I got the one (rear window broke when I turned on defroster--no spare rear Windows anywhere in the country) addressed by both going to CEO of Honda and a federal consumer agency. The other problem was with a six month old Saturn that the AC kept going out on (life threatening in my remote hometown in the Mojave desert). With that one I had a one on one with the owner of the dealership who went directly to headquarters. They not only replaced the AC but agreed to provide me with a new car at no cost if that failed. They also gave me 4 new tires for free.

I just want to alert you to a web site I was looking at: hondaairbaginfo.com.

It is dated June 2016. Even though I don't have a honda/acura anymore, it was an interesting read. Especially the very last paragraph. (I listed it below.) Interesting but I am sure I am taking it out of context and it means after they bring your car in for repair.

I always found Honda Corporation to be a pretty good company. I can't necessarily say that about the dealerships. However, I do know if you contact customer service at Honda Corporation and tell them the dealership is being non responsive, you will get action.

Quoted from website mentioned above:

"Honda continues to urge owners of Honda and Acura vehicles affected by the Takata airbag inflator recalls to get their vehicles repaired at an authorized dealership as soon as possible. The authorized dealership will make appropriate repairs at no charge to the customer. If there is a delay in repairing an affected vehicle, Honda and Acura dealers are authorized to provide a free loaner or rental vehicle until the recall repair can be completed. I Honda and Acura owners can check their vehicles’ recall status at www.recalls.honda.com and www.recalls.acura.com or by calling (888) 234-2138."

My husband's 2014 Ford Mustang is part of the recall also. We got the notice in July 2015. A few weeks ago, we got a notice that it could be another year before the car is fixed.....sometime in 2017.

He uses this car, on highways, everyday for work. It frightens me that he is driving that thing right now. I've filed a complaint with the NHTSA, because it is taking too long to replace. That was a waste of time, because the parts aren't available.

The only way you can get the thing turned off is to go through filing some forms stating that you have a physical disability and that the airbags could be a detriment to you. Frankly, an exploding airbag, with possible shrapnel, is a detriment to anybody driving the car.

I'm pretty fed up right now. I'm trying to convince him to use my car for work, on days when I have no place to go.
