The other thread went very wrong. I wanted to inform posters of something that could have been a good thing (and may still be beneficial). When some brought up potential hazards I got defensive. I should have acknowledged that it was true, that there could be issues. Of course everyone should be cautious. I realized that too late. So my apologies to everyone for not listening. I know those who brought up problems had the best of intentions. I'm very sorry.

You tried. It was a great idea, but why can't the establishments do the same thing. Maybe they should be required to do so.

I don't know why hotels aren't involved. Or even the websites that host hotel reservations. It seems it would be more comprehensive. I don't know.

Monkey, don't waste a moment fretting about what happened to your prior thread. Your intentions were good, but you can't control how other people interpret them. I, for one, can say that I don't suspect that you have been on this forum with the sole intent of collecting information regarding posters vacation plans/locations.

After it was deleted, I googled the subject based on your thread title. I really appreciate your alerting us to this information. I understand the concerns that might have been expressed (I admit they occurred to me too), but hopefully there is a way to upload the pics after one returns home...I'll definitely be exploring this after my next trip, so thank you again for the info!

@WenGirl42 YW! That would be great if people could opt out of giving location.

But I'm guessing that is a way of verifying that the photos really do come from the hotel. Otherwise people with less than honorable intentions could post photos of their neighbor's house, a friend's apartment or any other location just to cause trouble.

@september I started a thread about an app that was developed to help build a data base of photos inside hotel rooms which will be used to aid law enforcement match images posted by sex traffickers to locations.

My feelings were such an app would be very helpful. Because the app asks for location and is relatively new some felt it could be clickbait or something sinister. I got defensive and wrote some things I shouldn't have. I fully agree that a more in depth explanation should be acquired before DL the app and using it.

@Say Nay, I didn't see the thread either or what you posted but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Every one has their off days or says something they wish they might not have. The entirety of your posts speaks of the type of poster you are, not just one or two. You are alright in my book!!

Just the fact that you started this thread apologizing speaks to your character. Like I said before, everyone here has had off posts and said something they wish they haven't. However, not everyone acknowledges when they do and that they might have been a bit defensive or even a bit salty. You did. I seriously wouldn't give it another thought. Those who are gracious will accept your apology.
