I notice more check in here rather than the pet board, so I thought I'd ask.

DH and I have had our new kitten--about 10 or 11 mos old--for two weeks now, and this is our first time "doing litter boxes." Actually, it's my job. Even when I was growing up, our cats always went outside to do their business. I never thought I'd have a litterbox, but we have coyotes in the orchard behind our home so I don't want to set the poor thing up....

Anyway, I asked what litter they used at the agency and they said
"whatever's donated," so we were on our own. We picked up Tidy Cat on our way home, and the poor thing took one sniff, looked at us, and ran as if his tail was on fire. So I picked up Fresh Step, which he loves. I told DH that I don't want to mess with a good thing, but I notice it's a bit dusty, and our little guy digs and digs as if he's at the beach!

We keep the box in the basement (fixed), and he seems to love it down there--even sleeps there as if it's his own bachelor pad lol.

What litter do you use?
