I'm watching CNN this morning with Ashleigh Banfield. I like her as an anchor. But, this morning, she is wearing such a low cut top that her cleavage is out there and it looks terrible. Where is the decorum anymore for news people on TV?

She's got a great job. She should dress professionally. I couldn't dress like that in my former office! I see women news anchors in tops that with their long hair covering the straps, makes them look like they are wearing beachwear! Some local TV anchors dress more professionally!

They don't have to be in a business suit, but please. We don't need to see your cha cha's. Dress with some respect for the job you have and the people who are watching and trying to take you seriously.

I see this at the local and the national level.

I'm assuming those studio lights are hot, but the men still wear complete suits, so what gives with that? She wasn't dressed inappropriately. If the producers felt she was, they would have sent her to wardrobe to change.

Even when covered up these news anchors wear dresses so tight they may as well be naked. I guess this is the current trend in dressing but , being 67 and all, I do not think they look nice at all. Some of the most beautiful women in history - Liz taylor , marilyn Monroe etc diod not need to show themselves like that to make men crazy for them. If men today need this to make them feel desire for a woman - what is wrong with them ?

I am a male viewer and I do watch the #1 rated cable news network, to which I think you are referencing. Really don't pay much attention to their male or female choices of dressing. Do know they have a "dress/suit-tie code" and it is pretty easy for "how one dresses experts" to see.

Me? I just want the news, thank you. For those looking for more viewing, the net is full of places one can visit.

hnj

I guess this is the current trend in dressing but , being 67 and all, I do not think they look nice at all. Some of the most beautiful women in history - Liz taylor , marilyn Monroe etc diod not need to show themselves like that to make men crazy for them. If men today need this to make them feel desire for a woman - what is wrong with them ?

Women don't always dress the way they do to attract other men. Sometimes they want to wear something that makes them feel good and looks attractive on them.

She wasn't dressed inappropriately. If the producers felt she was, they would have sent her to wardrobe to change.

Define 'appropriate'. It varies with culture, age, personal choice etc.

It all has it's place, and at some point, the way women are dressing (or undressing is more the point) in public, there won't be fashion anymore, because nothing will be covered up.

There are social norms (and yes they change over time), but we still live in a world where if you want to be taken seriously for something besides your body, you need to dress for the occasion/event.
