This will probably be deleted. There is a certain "Mod" who deletes most everything I post. But just for info, I just watched Purple Rain. I cried my eyes out at the end. I grew up in Mpls. and Prince was a big part of my life. I grew up in an abusive family as he did. I won't say anything else except to say I love him and miss him.

@catwhisperer, I don't think you have to worry about your thread getting deleted. I saw Purple Rain when it first came out, one particular scene in particular stayed with me over time. Loved Prince's music, miss him, too. I once got to tour the nightclub in Mpls where he got his start.

i understand seeing the movie just brought back all the old memories. it's amazing how many wounded souls there are out there who we never hear from and then someone like prince, etc brings it all to the forefront

I think when we are inspired and moved by someone in the arts, a singer, actor, musician, painter, writer, etc. it is such a beautiful connection that through their craft and talent, they were able to touch our hearts.

There is so much music out there that guides me and keeps me strong. It's such a gift to be able to open up our hearts through the vision of the artist who opened up their heart to share.

I thought it was so special when so many new fans found Michael Jackson's music after he had passed, especially younger people. Just like Prince, his music will live on and his legacy will endure. Sometimes through their pain and the battles they bravely fought in life with grace and courage, we can find our courage to keep going.

I too am sorry for the abuse you went through.

I have seen the movie at least 3 different times and always see something I missed before.

I wonder if Prince ever had close friends or family he confided in. He was so well known, yet he seemed all alone. 💜💜💜💜💜💜

I, too, was an abused child. I understand that pain that never goes away. I can go right back to that feeling I had when I was an innocent kid, not understanding why my parents were so cruel.

Nowadays, when that sinking feeling of the bad memories come to mind, I just try not to linger there and force myself to think about good things.

@FLgardener....I'm so sorry to hear that you were abused as well. Infortunately, those memories don't go away, but like you, when I start going there in my head, I try to think about other things or do something to distract myself.
