Figuring out how old you are.

I was in the car coming home from an appointment and just thinking about my next birthday this fall. Holy smokes, I'm a year older than I've been thinking I am. I felt young, now I don't feel as young. Told my husband this and he says, through our laughing at this, "don't worry, you're old". LOL. Thanks a lot bub. He's a year and a half older than I am. See how fast time goes? I guess we're having fun..."time flys when you're having fun".

Have you ever gotten your age wrong? I'm sure no young person has, I never did when I was younger.

Yes, I did that a few years ago. I was talking to a friend on the phone and said "Well, I'll be 58 soon", and he said "No, you'll be 57, I know because I am a month younger than you!". Well, that was a relief lol.

Ha, when I am driving and pondering how old I am, all I can think is that if I had known this was going to be my last car I would have got a different color.

My younger sister absolutely obsesses about her age, and I rarely ever think about mine. IMO, it's only important when you want to get your first driver's license and sign up for Social Security ... lol.

She found it difficult to believe me when I told her when I was in health insurance enrollment that sometimes people would have to go back to their desk to get their wallet and check their drivers license for their DOB.

Some people care, and some don't.

LOL! I kind of tripped myself up in my 50s when I started thinking the next number when I hit my half-birthdays in Aug. I justified it by claiming it helped me to mentally prepare for that next birthday. Worked fine for a few years, but now I sometimes have to stop & think about my real age. At least I can still remember my birth year. Aw, heck; it's just a number, eh?

It just doesn't seem important until you register for something that asks for your age (like insurance or, later on, Medicare or other things of that nature).

No. I never really think about it. It has never made a difference to me turning 30, 40, 50 or 60. Sometimes I think about how many few years I have left..... But it is a fleeting thought and I go back to my reality TV show and quit thinking so hard.

I never worry about how old I think I am, but I look SO MUCH OLDER than I actually am that I sure as shootin' worry about how old OTHER PEOPLE thnk I am!!!

Due to a family situation, I started kindergarten before my 4th birthday. I was always (by far) the youngest person in my class. I HATED it, so frequently added a year or 2 to my actual age.

Even today, I never under estimate my age. My husband was in the same class and is 18 months older than me so, occasionally I still miscalculate and make myself older. (based on his age)

My Grandad died when I was only 12, but he was a pretty cool old Polish guy. I still remember his words to me......"You get old too soon and smart too late." He sure was right about that one!

My husband always thinks he's a year older than he is. I have to quickly correct him because then he's making me a year older, too!

My birthday is also in the fall and, when I read this, I had to think for second - what if I have it wrong. Yikes! Unfortunately, I didn't. I will turn 62 this fall and I seriously STILL can't even get with being 60! It's just like some kind of Twilight Zone thing for me.

My husband always seems to claim his age at what he will be next birthday. It's not like he doesn't know his age or mis-states it for a purpose. But, for example, as soon as he turned 59 he was calling himself 60 and etc. I don't get it, but I guess it's how his brain works.

When my cousin was around 80 and very ill with Parkinsons and other problems he would say all the time"If I'd have known I would live to be this old I would have taken better care of myself".

I figure I'm old enough to count only those birthdays divisable by 5. This is one of those years.

For several years now I have had to stop and work it out in my head and most of the time I thought I was a year older than I am when I do the actual math. I just felt like it was a good thing since apparently I am not bothered by how old I am getting.

Still after all these decades I do wish my bra size was larger, that still bothers me as much at 54 as the way it did at 16. Getting old no problem.

I completely missed a year. I think it was either 55 or 56. I thought we were celebrating one birthday when DD informed me we were celebrating another. I tried my best to talk them in to letting me go back and have that year. Even promised to "catch up" at the next birthday. LOL

I haven't gotten my own age wrong, but do have a habit of making my Mother and Husband each a year older than they are. They don't care for that very much!

Oh, good heavens, yes...lol It must be some type of mental block or something for me but for some odd reason, I often say that I am 51. It just comes out (I'm 56) without thinking and then I get flustered because I know I am not 51 but I can't think of how hold I am...lol I suppose my mind is rebelling at being 56. Also, when I write down the year I was born in, it always looks wrong! I think "I'm not that old". And then I do the mental math....and yeah....I'm that old...lol

I am always thinking that I am a year younger than I am.....however, my son reminds me what my real age is.....it's not important to me!
