Do you think it's necessary that your SO knows EVERYTHING about you? And vice versa?

I would also describe myself as discreet. And I don't think it's vital that your partner know everything about you or you about them. A little mystery keeps the magic brewing.

i have never told my husband everything about me as i'm sure he hasn't either. there is no need to.

if someone asks me to keep a secret or not to tell anyone what they've told me, it goes no further.

I will keep other peoples secrets,if they ask me to,but i am straight forward with others, i hate lies, always have ,i am a honest person ,that tells it like it is.

My mother always got mad at me because I wouldn't tell her what she was getting for Christmas. LOL Dad was always so proud of the fact that I could keep a secret.

I've known many secrets in my life. Hopefully, kept them all. Shared them later if needed. None that hurt anyone and some that have helped.

As far as DH ... We may have "secrets" that we haven't shared, but none that would change our lives. I've had two hubbies and a child before him. She's probably told him more than me. LOL He's had plenty of girlfriends before me. He doesn't ask and neither do I. We've made it this far and it works. As long as it makes another twenty then we are good.

Everyone has secrets ... even if they think they don't. It's how you use them that makes a difference.

Yes I keep secrets. More so I keep confidential information to myself. I wonder these days how much information is kept confidential?

The real question is how much do you trust yourself to keep a secret? And do you trust your friends with information you want kept confidential?

Keeping secrets, in terms of confidentiality, was an essential fabric of my job/profession for 46 years. It was also a point of pride for me.

As far as confiding in friends - no, I would not/have not believe(d) that anything I really want kept confidential, will be. So no, I don't trust my friends/family in that way.

I remember times, in the past, when I knew women who would take the confidences of others and share them with their husbands. They actually said that they never kept ANYTHING from their husbands and that's how they rationalized it.

But to take somebody ELSE'S confidence and tell their husbands, just for the sake of sharing everything with him - that's just creepy...and WRONG.

I'm sure I have secrets. I know I have some things I've never told anybody, mostly some of the most horrible things from my childhood. Well, I may have told them to my psychologist back when I was in therapy. But to tell people, just to share, serves no purpose. I've shared a lot, but some things are just too awful.

I could never EVER share a confidence of a friend with anybody because it's just plain not mine to share.

I have secrets that I will take to the grave. To me, if I don't want anyone to know, I don't share it with anyone. And I do keep secrets, to me they are just as important as my own no matter how big or small.

A few months ago my cousin shared a secret with me, she just needed to vent. My aunt, her mother who I love dearly knew the secret and told others. My cousin called me on it thinking I was the one that told. I knew it had been my aunt because she called to tell me about it and I acted as if I knew nothing and was hearing it for the first time. My cousin and I are no longer close as she still thinks it was me and my aunt knows why we don't talk and she doesn't tell her it was she that told. Very sad but I just don't feel it's my place.
