Riverdance 20th anniversary

Yesterday I took our 2 oldest granddaughters to see this anniversary production. They (and I) loved it. I cannot believe it's been 20 years since I first saw it.

If it's in your area, I recommend it.

I didn't see "Riverdance", but I did see "Lord of the Dance", "Feet of Flames" and "Celtic Tiger"!

I was a H-U-G-E Michael Flatley fan!

I even got to meet him once!

I saw both and preferred Lord of the Dance since Michael Flatly starred.

Both were memorable and so enjoyable. Watching all those dancers is just spell binding.

Flatly was outstanding!

I'll have to see if it is coming to the DC/Maryland area.

Thanks for your replies.

I was a big fan of Michael Flatley too. Lord of the Dance was my favorite. In 1998 (?) we saw Mr. Flatley perform outdoors in Hyde Park in London. My mind is fuzzy but I think it was the last time he was going to do Lord of the Dance. After that performance he toured with Feet of Flames.

Whatever it was, the park was jammed with people and it was quite a spectacular night.

Yes, I highly recommend it, too! I saw it last October in Seattle, and it was GRREATTT!

I just told DH and he couldn't believe it has been twenty years. LOL We love Riverdance and Lord. Actually love all the ones since, but these are our favorites. Time does fly.

DH and I have seen both several times. We missed Dance this year but have tickets for Riverdance at the Fox in Detroit this June. I enjoyed both shows enormously but have to say Lord is my favorite.

I love Riverdance! So much energy and so much fun. We have tickets to see it this summer. We've seen it several times but I never tire of it. We've also seen Lord of the Dance and Feet of Flames. Another Michael Flatley fan here.

It happened back when he was touring with "Celtic Tiger", just before he got sick and had to cancel the rest of his tour.

There was a ticket package where you could meet him at a meet and greet before the show.

The show was going be a couple of days before my birthday, so naturally, I bought a ticket for that, as a birthday present to myself.

Once I got to the venue, those of us who had the packet ticket, were taken back stage to wait for him.

I was the first person in line, and couldn't believe that I was actually going to meet him very, very soon.

Then, I saw him walking towards us, and he was in his costume, and I saw that he was about five foot seven, with a lean, muscular build, and oh, so much more hansome in person!

I told him that my birthday was in two days, and he wished me a happy birthday.

I also told him that I stayed at Castlehyde Hotel (which was located right next door to his private home. It has since closed, due to lack of revenue. He wasn't home when I was at the hotel, and his home was going under renovations at the time. What impressed me most was that he was using local people/businesses to do the work on his home).

He seemed impressed that I had been in that area, and I told him that it was very beautiful, which it is. He siad, in his Irish accent, "Yes, it is, it is!".

I then had a picture taken of the two of us, and then I said good-bye, and let the next person in line have their time with him.

It's a memory that I'll never forget!

How fun and exciting to be that close.

I've seen those special packages, but it's never anyone I want to see up close and personal.

For him, I'd jump at the chance.

Saw it at Radio City Music Hall a few years back and honestly felt the show could of been wrapped up in 30 minutes instead of dragging out to an hour and a half.

Saw Fiddler on the Roof last week now the dancing in that was incredible much better then Riverdance.

I have 2 of Michael F's VCR tapes of him and his dance troup. Now that was a workout, but what a great show!!!

You sound just like my husband. Lol. He says the same thing - that they keep doing the same thing over and over; whereas, I absolutely love it and could watch it for hours.

I would have loved to have seen him last year in NYC when Lord of the Dance was making the rounds. It was, I guess, his farewell tour because he said he was going to retire.

It was just too expensive, for the cost of the tickets, train fare and dinner it would have been close to a $500 afternoon and I would venture to guess he didn't perform in all the dances or at the matinees if there was going to be an evening show too.
