Anyone sell on eBay? Need advice please

i had 100% feedback and could sell a lot of my clothes. Had a lady who bought a skirt, didn't read the measurements and said I lied in saying the size. Long story, I won the actions (people amaze me -- she said she didn't receive it but in feedback said it was too small!) but have 95% feedback now. I tried selling more items for $1 and only 2 sold.

Now i I will offer refunds. When my feedback gets back up to %100 do you think my items will sell again? I've only had one negative out of 500.

any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Adamlambert, I am so sorry that this happened to you. You can call eBay and talk to them about the situation. They can remove the negative feedback, since you won the action. I had to do that once. I sold something on eBay, and someone from Canada bid. He expected me to mail the heavy item to Canada for the low shipping price I listed. I had put in my ad that only people from the U.S. could bid, but he bid anyway. Ebay cancelled his transaction, but he turned around and left negative feedback. I called eBay, and they removed his feedback. Good luck!

Some vendors when they receive negative feedback put the explanation for the negative feedback under the negative feedback. As you sell more the one negative response will mean less and your ratings will go back up.

As a side note I have 100% rating. I make sure in the listing that every detail, measurement and imperfection etc is present in the listing. I do not describe by omission.

Your ratings will go up after awhile. Good Luck!

thanks, I will give them a call!! I'm just so surprised at buyers, but have read it's a new scam to get free items.

i put put all descriptions in & never had an issue.

Do do you think the 95% is why my things aren't selling????

I think it may have a lot to do with why your items are not selling. Just call EBAY as suggested and you can get back your good rating. Phone number is 1-866-540-3229. Good luck and sorry that happened to you.

TBH, 95% would freak me out. Wouldn't even consider it.

I can't believe that one negative gave you 95%. How do people get 99.9%? From like a four star on shipping or something?

Thanks, that's what I thought. They have a formula to calculate it. I never ever imagined one negative would drop it, but it does if you don't sell much. Bummer.lesson learned.

The 95% rating is one consideration ... but there's another.

It often takes a long time to sell clothing on Ebay because there are so many competing ads. Check it out by doing a search for the type of item you are selling and see how many auctions come up. I think you'll be very surprised. I once tried to sell a very pretty NWT top that wouldn't sell, so I did a search and found 107,000 competing auctions! Yikes!

You may not be doing anything wrong .... the problem is a LOT of competition.

I have a 100% rating but my clothing items haven't been selling lately either. There are many reasons why this could be. Sometimes it just takes time for the right buyer to come along and it could take several relistings. Also, are your articles appropriate for the coming season? If you're trying to get rid of winter clothing now, you might not have too much luck.

I wouldn't consider purchasing from a seller with a 95% rating. If I really wanted something, though, I would probably actually look at the feedback. When I saw that there was only one negative, then I would purchase. Lots of people probably don't go as far as to look at the numbers though. I hope eBay will take care of this for you.

I USED to sell and now DH is selling.

I might offer that if you call eBay and explain what happened, they are good about keeping notes on file. The more you talk with them, the easier it gets to establish a sort of trust with them. Even though it is a major hassle at first, they make accommodations for you (even your seller ratings) later on. I have had them tell me not to worry before and that under no circumstances would my account suffer.

Even if the price is exceptional, this is the WORST time of year to sell winter clothes. I speak from personal experience. Buyers are now looking for good summer clothing.

@Adamlambert There are probably a lot of reasons why items do not sell besides the percentage of the seller. I would work to get your rating back up 95% is a bit low. I personally would think long and hard. But I will tell you if there is a reasonable explanation from the seller under the bad rating, I might reconsider especially if everyone else's ratings to the seller are fabulous.

I called and they said it was past 90 days so they can't do anything. I'll just wait but glad to hear clothes are selling so I think it's the feedback. Other comments are fabulous...it's just that one. . Thanks for the help!!!!!

Did you make any comment on that buyer? Even if you can only post "neutral", I'm pretty you can write a dispute.

One more thing you can do ..... address it in the ad, and cut & paste that comment to all your other auctions.

You could say something like:

Feedback: I am a fair and conscientious seller with ONE bad review. Sooner or later, we all get that person. If you have any concerns, please review all my other feedbacks. I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

@Adamlambert Whan you say you won the actions, I'm assuming the buyer filed a dispute and you won, meaning eBay sided with you. If that's the case, can't you appeal to eBay to remove the negative feedback?

I ALWAYS look at the universe of product and seller reviews, and it is generally very apparent from the quality of the review as to its validity and the credibility of the reviewer.

I sell a variety of things on eBay, clothing is one and it does not sell quickly! And yes, call and talk to someone at eBay. If you don't get the conversation you want call again and ask for a supervisor~! Because you won the dispute, they may take the negative feedback down. And yes 95% takes a toll on our sales.

Two years ago I sold a high end designer handbag. I included everything in my TOS, always do.... long story short, she IMMEDIATELY wanted a refund. I don't refund unless I've made a horrendous mistake. I tried to make things right for her, she wanted none of it and filed a dispute. eBay froze my PP accounts while it went to arbitration. Meanwhile some friends of mine decided to find out more about my buyer and discovered that she was selling counterfeit bags on another site (she was actually on two other sites that sell a lot of fakes) with one handbag exactly like the one I sold her.... only counterfeit! We believe that she intended to switch my authentic bag with her counterfeit one.... I get back the fake, she gets to keep the real one and gets a refund! This bag was around $900.

Ebay decided IN MY FAVOR. I won the case. I did not have to refund and she had to keep the bag! She was more than furious and gave me a negative. My 100% rating dove down several points. I tried very hard getting that negative removed! They told me at the time that the feedback was HER OPINION and she was entitled to her opinion.... I said she was wrong. Ebay said she was wrong, I WON the dispute so she gets to leave her wrong opinion and affect my sales???

Yes, and that's what happened. The good thing is that the negative percentage goes away in one year and my percentage resumed it's 100% standing one year later.

However, I believe eBay may have now changed its policies regarding allowing the losing side of a dispute to leave a negative feedback for the winner of the dispute! Would be really worth it to fight this~!! Good luck!!
