Going To The Dentist

I just read the thread about the man having all his teeth pulled. OMG !!! I haven't been to the dentist in a really long time. ( I won't say how long). I started feeling some sensitivity on one of my teeth and it was really bothering me. My DIL works at a dentist office and she highly recommended him. So I went last night and he took x-rays and everything was fine. No cavity's and everything else looked good. I just need a really good cleaning. I am grateful I have always have had good teeth. I'm sorry maybe I should have put this on the Wellness thread. But the other story sacred me. I 'm glad I didn't see it before I went to the dentist. The dentist I went to had a very nice bed side manner (so to speak) Be careful who you go to. Thanks.

I go to the dentist every six months for a cleaning and checkup. When my parents were growing up preventive dentistry wasn't even on the radar so they had lots of problems. My mother made sure we took care of our teeth and practiced good oral hygiene.

That man lives here in Indiana - the news said the dentist has an impeccable record. The dentist is saying he was told exactly what would be done and that the man agreed. So we'll see who's telling the truth.

Take good care of your teeth! My sister didn't and ended up having all of her teeth pulled. It caused even worse health problems for her.

I'm so diligent about going to the dentist. I think it's worse than the gyne. Lol. Good for you for going back before you need major work

I hate the dentist. I don't care how clean and healthy my teeth are, I don't like anyone poking around in my mouth like that unless they buy me dinner first.

I did that gig of not going to the dentist for years, some time back. I highly recommend NOT doing that.

You can do everything that you can possibly, physically do and there will be problems at some point.

I got everything fixed up back then and I go every 6 months for the cleaning and whenever they make me go for another exam and set of exrays. They know I don't have any medical insurance so they are really good about letting me go for a few years between the full exray deal, as long as I continue to take excellent care.

In the process of getting that together, BTW, I learned a lot of new stuff for home care. One of the things that has been invaluable for me is using 'Proxabrush' pretty much any time I eat anything. It even gets more debris than flossing. Also, a Waterpik is an essential tool and a sonic-type toothbruth.

For a toothbrush, the Cybersonic has been my favorite because it has a small, round brush. Believe it or not (heh!) I have a fairly small mouth and those big ol' brushes are just too big to be practical for me.

If the patient was informed about what was going to be done he would of signed a consent form. If he was not informed it looks like a heck of a lawsuit(can you say "mouth full of implants on the dentist"?).

I hate to go to the dentist. I have TMJ, and it hurts me to open my mouth wide enough and keep it open for a long time while they clean my teeth. It's about time for me to go again, too.

I've always gone to the dentist every six months. It was the Drs office I was always scared of, but I got over that.

When one doesn't have dental insurance, they go for emergencies only. (I know)

My teeth get some pain at times, because I grind on my teeth at night.
