I have the Today Show on and the crawl said a study showed that sad songs help you heal after a loss.. Do you know of any titles? or the words. Thank you.

They seem to make it worse for me.

To this day, almost 4 years since my sister has passed, I cannot listen to You're Only Lonely by J. D. Souther. I have to change the radio station or fast forward the CD.

I can't listen to "One More Day" by Diamond Rio without crying.

A song that I find sad yet empowering is "I'm Movin' On" by Rascal Flatts.

Beautiful, moving music.

Hope you feel better.

I know it's been said sad music can help you through grief more so than happy songs so maybe you want to go to YouTube and listen to a few songs and see which ones help.

Maybe because tears can be a healing release...?

These songs bring tears to my eyes because they have meaning to me...they evoke sad memories for me...the words may or may not bring tears to anyone else.

After a really bad breakup, I lived on Peter Gabriel's US album. Come Talk to Me, Blood of Eden, and Digging in the Dirt were cathartic songs for me, then the album ends on Kiss that Frog, a really upbeat song, and Secret World, a song about looking back and acceptance, but with such an upbeat, driving rhythm it feels healing.
