I thought "WOW" too, but in a different way.

Everything was beautiful, but I really thought the ceremony itself, with that song, which I didn't even recognize at first, was not good. My thought was "who came up with this lame-brained idea?" I think the TODAY show may have finally jumped the shark for me, personally.

Well, admittedly I'm an old fogey and old-fashioned, and as long as the young couple loved it, and will remember it fondly, that's really all that matters. They seemed sweet, and everything else was beautiful.

I don't care for weddings on morning talk shows. It's only a time filler. I always change the channel right away.

I guess some enjoy watching though.

@Sunshine KateI'd bet it's way more than a time filler - I think it attracts an audience for several weeks as they take their polls about the various parts of the ceremony right up to the actual day. They've been doing this for years now.

Many years ago (sometime in the early 90's), I dated a man who was a stage manager for ABCTV in NYC. I still remember a discussion we had about TV weddings; his take was that when a soap opera needed to raise their ratings, they'd write a wedding with all its build up into the script! Apparently works for other kinds of shows, too!

as for moving the whole thing along quickly, they probably have tons of news to get to (Brussels) but were stuck with this wedding thing.

But I guess if you get your whole wedding paid for, why not...

I didn't like it at all. The beginning was really weird. Dancing along with some song I never heard of and doing their vows at the same time. The whole thing was rushed. The only good thing that came out of it was their honeymoon to Greece. If you remember when they used to do Todays Wedding several years ago they were so much more beautiful then this one. Thanks.

I thought it was awful. Everything was beautiful but it was like the wedding meant nothing and was just a way to get to the reception and honeymoon.

I did wonder if it was speeded up because of news that had to be covered.

Changed the channel. I'm watching less and less of Today. All the overtalking, Tamron's nonsense and upstaging, and the schmaltz has sent me to CNN and MSNBC, not that they are what they once were.

When people give up the (almost) most important day in their lives just for a paid honeymoon,thats what you get.Maybe the reception was good after the tv show people left.I noticed the bride was calmer at the ending of the show. I do not usually watch NBC but was passing by on my way to CBS

I wonder if their divorce will be televised too............

Occasionalrain, I agree with you. I have the same opinion of the Today show and rarely watch it for those reasons.

I was channel surfing this AM and caught part of the wedding. What a joke! Not sure the honeymoon spot was a good one. Seems like things in Europe could be dangerous. Maybe not, but I'm not going there.

The Today Show did weddings for many years. I think they were in the Spring also. They were always nicely done. Not as frenetic as this one. Seems as if they were done over a couple of months, not a week.

I didn't like it either. And what was up with throwing the bouquet again? Can we get a do-over? No! It was worse than the first one and the same girl ended up with it.

I thought it was a little to frantic and the manor in which the vows where said not at all romantic. I know this was a contest the Bride and Groom signed up for I'm wondering if this is what they invisioned. I also wouldn't like for someone making the decision on my gown, flowers, rings, and cake to me that would be personal. What I thought was tacky was doing the makeovers in the middle of the reception hope they where happy with the results.
