I was watching FabLife. They had a woman on there that had lost over 100 pounds and was now a size 14, having problems finding jeans to fit her properly. She looked like a 14 to me. In chimes Lauren from FabLife saying "I'm a 14 too and have difficulty finding jeans too". Joe Zee shot her a look. It was clear from the two women standing next to each other they were far from the same size. Why do women do this? Lauren admitted she has lost a lot of weight over the years, be should proud of that and not lie about her size. I personally think Lauren looks fabulous for her size - she always dresses so nice for a plus sized woman.

Sometimes it depends on where you purchase your clothes. I wear, small, med, or large. Size 4 thru size 10. Amazes me every time I try to shop. At least my ring size and shoe size stay the same.

Well, sometimes they do it to make themseves feel better. Same with so many women saying they look 40 when they are 60 or 70.

But the other thing is, sometimes size as a number can be deceiving. It isn't just about the size of a woman but her shape. Also, sizing of various brands are different. I know my mom is a size 10 normally but depending on what brand, she may be an 8 or she may be a 12!

I think women lie about their size because of the 'body shaming' and the stereotyping that goes with it, that goes on in our society.

If you're overweight, you're fat, lazy, don't care about yourself, have no self control, etc.

If you're skinny (like me) then you must have body dysmorphic disorder, anorexia, bulimia or some other 'mental illness'.

It can get very confusing when hosts selling an item lie. One time Helen Keaney claimed she was wearing a size small sweater. Anyone who's seen her knows she is very busty and not skinny. I didn't know what to think in terms of what size I should buy.

I think people lie about their clothing size for the same reasons they lie about their ages or the size of their bank accounts or even the size of the fish they just caught --it fills some need they have.

But as for clothing sizes, people do wear many different sizes all at the same time, even within the same brand depending upon cut, fabric, color, etc. I just came from Nordstrom where I tried on 3 different NYDJ's, all the same size but I liked the fit of only one. Sadly, that came only in a color of denim that I already have in several other styles -not spending 100+ for that today.

What clothing size? Any clothing I buy ranges up to four sizes, depending upon the vendor, the type of clothing, etc. I don't buy anything without checking out the measurements, and even then there's a good chance it won't fit.

Especially underwear and bras. I'm 38-30-38, and I buy a 2X sometimes because I can't tolerate anything tight. I can't imagine how any woman who is really that size can find anything that fits.

Why?

Probably because there are so many around always judging how other women look and trying to find fault with them.

What kills me is.....some people lose 10 (ten) pounds and go down two sizes or more! I know that to be quite true.

I lost over 20 lbs and could still wear the same size clothing (wasn't hanging off me).

Go figure!

Saying I'm a size 14 sounds better then saying I weigh 165 lbs.
