I don't know how to post links, but if you google "Lancaster PA Mud Sales & Auctions, it will take you to their page. Shows dates and places of different sales and auctions. Appears they sell a lot of different stuff.

What is a ‘Mud Sale’?

What is a mud sale you ask? Many Lancaster County towns and villages are protected by volunteer fire companies. These fire companies need to raise funds to pay for needed equipment and supplies. Fire company sales have been a regular event here in Lancaster County since the mid-1960’s.

The late Winter and early Spring dates work out best for local farmers because they have more time available before the Spring planting. Since many of the items are sold outside during potentially muddy Spring conditions, these events have earned the nickname “mud sales”.

Often auctions are held both inside and outside, and sometimes numerous auctions take place at the same time throughout the grounds. You can freely move about from one auction to another looking for the merchandise that most interests you.

The items that are auctioned vary from one auction to another and include a wide variety of donated goods and consignment merchandise. Auctioned items often include furniture, craft items, quilts, building materials, livestock, buggies and carriages, tools, farming supplies and equipment, garden items, and much more. Plus, there is always lots of good home-cooked food for sale and to enjoy there.

You'd need to show me a huge incentive to get me to Lancaster in the spring. This is the time of year when the farmers spread fresh manure on their fields and the stink is unbearable. I mean it is literally nauseating. If you go, take supplemental oxygen.

They are fun, and if your really lucky you might be able to snag a quilt for a reasonable price. But some go for as ych as $1500-2000. the food and goodies are wonderful, dress warm tho, some auctions are inside and outside. You'll enjoy it.

@Tinkrbl44 Actually mud is an important commodity in oil well drilling and there are companies that specialize in selling it.

There is one in the Amish community here in late Spring. Draws a LOT of non-Amish to the area. Held on a farm so complete with mud, muck, manure along with vendors.

Get a schedule in advance so you'll know the vendors, the auction days and times. If it's similar it's like a flea market, antique show and auctions (including livestock). Some offer a traditional haystack breakfast on certain days.

While I often do business with the Amish community I don't enjoy the flea market or auctions. Just too busy for me.

Oh, and enjoy the manure. It's already in the fields!
