Observation Men And Women Aging

Watching James Burrows Tribute and seeing Ted Danson I noticed how good he looks. It got me thinking that men seem to age more gracefully than women ( especially in Hollywood). A man gets distinguished with age, a woman is just getting old. Tom Selleck is still good looking and Sean Connery was a leading man probably into his 60's.

oh ted dansons DOES still look great, but i disagree about men aging gracefully more than women in hollywood. i can post lots of photos of hollywood men that you can tell really did not age well.

Well, @Jordan2 *IMHO*

As far as the three men you mentioned - I don't think any of them have aged well at all, especially Tom Selleck.

And Sean Connery was looking less than stellar by the time he made the film Zardoz back in 1974.

"Beauty (and handsomeness) is in the eye of the beholder" and I think we have different eyes! And that's OK! :-) :-)

many women age gracefully in hollywood and out. it is the feelings that we have toward youth that are the problem.

you can go anywhere and find beautiful men and women of all ages.

I watch Blue Bloods every week and he still looks good to me! I still liked Sean Connery, I think it was the accent!

I think Ted looks ancient with the white hair. Didn't he have a meltdown when he started going bald? There was some brew haha over it.

I never thought Connery was handsome either. No idea what he looks like now.

Tom Selleck seems to look better with age.

I think they are just us regular folks. Some age very well and others not so well. I have gone to a 30 year high school reunion and was shocked how young some looked and shocked how old some looked. Don't even want to know what they thought of me.

I guess if it is said enough, people will continue to believe that men just look distinguished with age. However, there are plenty of women who age just as gracefully as a man does. I see it all the time in the real world.

Tom Selleck looks paunchy even though I am a fan and Sean Connery looks every bit his age. Robert Redford is another actor who looks his age. The idea that men age better than women, for myself, is just a myth.

My DH & I hung out with the same crowd in high school and we are still friends with them for the most part. Some of us have aged very well and some not so well. Those who were actually beautiful in HS still are pretty even though they are between 68 & 70 years old. Those who were more average looking in HS have not aged as well. One who can afford whatever she wants and has had some plastic surgery looks like she is 40 in some ways but also she looks very fake, her hands and her skin and her hair don't "go with" her perfect face. And neither does her body - plastic surgery can't hide the effects of arthritis on someones body, or the effects of too much sun when we were young.

Tom Selleck? No, never for me. Never thought he was a good looking guy.

Ted Danson? No again. Always reminded me of Milton the Monster.

Sean Connery - He was handsome in that he was MASCULINE - MALE all the way. That was his appeal to me.

The ladies, well that's a different sort of thing. Some never looked lovely or appealing and it didn't matter if they aged or not.

Yes, indeed.

The prpblem is that older women aren't often offered jobs in film. Certainly not leading lady or romantic parts.

Recently I watched several episodes of Frankie and Grace. Jane Fonda is well into her 70s and looks FABULOUS!
