Joey Feek is near the end

She is no longer awake. Very sad for the family, especially her little baby girl.

Oh I saw a picture on line a few days ago and she was cooking for her family from her bedside.

I had no idea who she was (or her husband) until I read the article.

So sad, for sure. Heartbreaking for someone so young and a young family to go through this.

Her name is Joey; Rory is her husband. I've followed them for years and prayed for them daily. God bless that beautiful family.

Maggie, I felt the same way at first. But if you read Rory's blog, it will make sense why they did it.....with Joey's blessing of course.

Lila Belle. They are a country music husband and wife duo. They also won on a show called " Can you Duet" which was on CMT in 2008 and 2009.

I am so glad Joey got to celebrate her daughters 2nd birthday.

I'm surprised the nurse would make such a statement to Rory as he or she did. When my mother was in this condition, her hospice nurse never gave a "time" such as "just a few days." People can linger and however improbably, can even rally to some degree as my mother did and lived for another three weeks after we all thought she was on the verge of passing away. Granted poor Joey is really bad off, and the nurse could very well be right, but you just never know..... When my mom did pass - after being very bad off - and we told the hospice nurse in the morning that he needn't come out that day, I said, "you probably aren't surprised [by her passing away] and he said, "no." But I'm very glad he never made "predictions" since if he had, the first one would have been wrong. It's a human body and everyone is different - you just never know.

When my daddy was so criticially ill, the only person that told me anything about his condition was the RN in the Intensive Care. I am almost positive she was repeating to us the information from his attending physician. I too can't see a nurse making any medical remark without consulting the Doctor first and then telling the family. Last thing my daddy's nurse told us was "This can go one way or the other right now", he passed away a few hours later.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer and died nine days later in the hospital without ever going home. We had hospice arranged and were just waiting for her to rally so we could bring her home. The spirit knows what we cannot know and decides when it is time. The timing is always perfect for those departing.

@CrazyDaisyI never said they didn't know, or know probably very close to accurately. My point was they shouldn't say anything because each person is different and you never know.... I'm glad our nurse didn't make any "predictions." We family members got a sense the end was near but again, the first time it was my mom rallied and didn't pass for three more weeks. Although at the end of that time we felt it could be any moment. We had all traveled from far away, so I would hate for any of our travel plans to have hinged on anything the nurse said. I think it's best to stay silent - that's just my own opinion But I wasn't saying the nurse didn't know. It was an extremely experienced hospice nurse.

@MaggieMack, we were expecting to bring daddy back home as well, and I was expecting to stay the duration until he was back on his feet. Sadly that was not meant to be. I am very sorry about your Mom..

As I said some families like to know while others do not. I am glad the "best stay silent" approach worked for you. A statement of "really bad off" is subjective and not an assement of a medical state. So really not an indicator. For my family, we appreciated knowing when my grandmothers time was getting close. We asked to be kept informed and we were.
