USPS regular mail stamps pricing going DOWN!

if Congress doesn't act, i believe. i think you can count on them acting on a price hike since the po has been printing in red ink for forever.

II don't care, I only mail one bill payment a month and I mail out about 12 Christmas cards a year. I have enough Forever stams to get through the next 6 years. Which is probably why stamp prices are going down. No mails anything anymore.

Well, that's good news! I still use snail mail, although not as much re: sending out thank you notes, long letters, etc. Seems as though I have less time now to write long letters then I did when I was much more busy years ago. Doesn't make much sense, does it?

The fact that people are not mailing practically anything any more is the reason why the price of stamps will increase ..... the USPS has been in financial trouble for a long time & they have to pay the post office workers so, the money the make from the stamps is paying for part of the salaries!!

...and they push us to buy the forever stamps to avoid the price increases....now whoever stocked up and bought a lot of forever stamps will actually lose money. too bad they wont be able to demand a rebate.

The price is only supposed to go down a couple of cents. If you bought forever stamps anytime between 2007 and 2013 you still paid a lower price (41 to 46 cents) than the current price of stamps less the 2 cents (47 cents).

within the past year i have bought well over 200 forever stamps.....didnt buy them that far back. it still doesnt sound fair, even though the amount is not a lot, it is the principle of the matter.

I'm one of those 'dinosaurs' who still sends hand-written letters and cards. The recipients will comment that I am the only person they know who still uses pen, stationary, and postage stamps. Not sure what this says about my communication habits, but I welcome any decrease in the cost of stamps.

Just be glad you didn't buy a house for $200,000 and then see it go down to half that or less.

Life is just not fair - you were probably perfectly happy to mail a letter with a Forever stamp that costr you less than 49 cents, now you'll be evening out the price since you "overpaid" to try to save a dollar over a few years time.d more. It also wouldn't be fair if they could never decrease the price, but it's not going to be enough money for me to worry even about the principle of the thing - maybe for me less than 20 cents a year -10 stamps at a 2 cent lowered price.

I could only wish my morning newspaper would be such a bargain!

Me, too! Still writing Thank You notes today. DD does it because she feels it's the polite, personal thing to do ... even when she does the e-mail/facebook/whatever thing, too. LOL

DH always sends cards for birthdays, Christmas, etc. and he always gets a phone call thanking us for their only "rea"l card. Sad, isn't it.

I can't believe the USPS won't talk Congress into letting them keep the other two cents too. We'll see, there's still a little time before April. I don't mail very many letters or cards during the year but do send out a lot of Christmas cards. Either way, I'll get by.

I hope aren't directing this at me since I wasn't even complaining. Just shocked that they would make it go down. I don't find the price of mailing letters costly at all, actually. I still have stamps I bought a few years ago since I rarely mail anything.
