Could You Turn Your Child In

I was discussing with some people if your child committed a crime could you turn them into the police. I would hope I would do the right thing, but I'm not sure. Maybe it would depend on the nature of the crime. Also you would become an accessory to the crime. I hope to never have to decide what to do.

I just read a story today where a mom recognized her son from a video of a crime and turned him in. Best gift she could ever give him.

Without a doubt, it just shows what kind of a person you really are. I know kids do stupid stuff, but they must learn to take responsibility for their actions or they will continue to make bad choices and be worthless in society.

For those that don't know if they could, think about this. How would you feel if your child or family member was killed or hurt by someone, or if someone robbed your house, etc, and they couldn't find the killer or robber and a parent knew it was their child but didn't turn them in. How would that make you feel? Wouldn't you want justice for your family? How could you, with good conscience, not make your child be accountable for the crime they committed? The laws are there for everyone to follow, including your child. Your child is not above the law.

Yes, I know I would. Just because they would think (and be right) that they got away with something.

It's human nature that if they got away with it, most people would do the same thing eventually down the road again.

Because I didn't turn my son in!

But they did something harmless. My kids are older now, and have never done anything to hurt anyone. If they had...yes I would have turned them in...to stop them from doing it again.

Yes justice would be served swiftly, because even though I lost a child, had my child lived I know I would have raised my child to display a deep respect for the following:

God's Holy Commandments

All God's Holy Ordinances

Honor thy Mother & Father

Appreciate and respect their Parents sacrifices, teachings, and way of life

Respect your good name

Observe all Laws everywhere

Know right from wrong

Respect Thy Neighbor

Respect all people everywhere

Respect all property of others everywhere.

Always walk the straight path, and do not cause harm to

anyone, or anything

Remember for each action there are equal and opposite reactions, which also bring many dire consequences

Remember you will be judged on Judgement Day, for all your earthly actions

"Even though my heart would break with despair, if I knew my child was guilty of any crime, I would ensure my child was brought to justice very swiftly".

All we can do is pray our teachings and years of sacrifice do not fall on deaf ears, and children everywhere know right from wrong, and choose the correct path as they journey through their earthly life.

If my son harmed someone yes I would turn him in if he stole something I would make him take it back but to the dressing room and walk out...........he would have taken it back and it would have to make him nervous taking it back. But NO not unless it was something really bad. I had a friend who's son was 18 dating a girl almost 16 and the mother of the girl new it.......they were at his mom's home and she caught them having sex so she called the girls mother and he went to prison and will always be a sex offender and when he got out he and the girl got together again of course she was legal age..........I could not do that to my son. Never for that if the girl and him were dating and the girl wanted it also.

If you want your kid to ever get straight, how could you not?

A friend's kid stole from him and did credit card fraud. He got the judicial system involved and had the child appear before a judge and they worked out a reparation etc. Then the MOTHER said to this child "Oh, your dad is just mean you don't have to do any of that." The judge dressed her down in court but the damage was done.

The child of course listened to Mom and didn't do any of the requirements, then got thrown out of school for drinking and other stuff during school hours, and gave up a great education at one of the better choice schools in the city. Because MOM said he was a good boy and couldn't have done any of that stuff even though he was caught red handed.

As so he is lost. Because MOM wanted to be the more-loved parent. Sad.

That is a hard one. It definitely depends on the crime; what, why, the victim. I'll be honest, it would have to be something pretty big, awful or horrendous for me to turn my child in.
