Have you been following her story as Talia Jane on Facebook and Lady Murderface on Twitter?

She wrote an open letter to the Yelp CEO that she was working there full time and still went hungry. Then she was fired. Would you contribute to her Go Fund Me?

I haven't followed on FB or Twitter, but did read the story on Daily Mail yesterday. I was surprised that she was only making twelve something an hour, not a living wage anywhere, much less in San Francisco. I wasn't surprised she was fired after so publicly making her case. It does seem pretty disgusting to pay people so little when you are raking in millions.

However, I would not have done what she did. I would have gone in search of a job that paid more, which I did when I was working in SF. And I would never have participated in a GoFundMe account. Either giving to it or receiving from it.

No, I haven't seen anything about this. I will say that I will never donate to anything that says "Go Fund Me". There are way too many scams out there.

I donate money to things that are local and I know how my money is spent (the only one that is big is St Judes), I give to them each month.

Otherwise I give to various churches in my area, several local animal shelters and to a lot of family members who have come upon hard times.

I never expect them to pay me back (if they do, fine, if not it's not mentioned).

So, no I don't and will never give any of these people money. I see it as an easy way for people to get money. The whole idea of it makes me sick, honestly.

I remember reading articles making the case that GoFundMe is internet panhandling. There's no real accountability so the person can use the money for other things than what they stated. I agree with @Annabellethecat66 & @MaggieMack.

@iceRedfire I think people think they're helping someone but personally, I find it hard to believe there are so many gullible people out there!

Good grief! It crazy to me people would give money to something like this when we constantly read all of the time where even these big charity's are cheating people like crazy!

Yet people still give money to these idiots. I try not to judge other people and I need to practice what I preach but come on! If people feel like they need to give money, give it to a family member who needs it (no strings) or an animal shelter.

She moved to San Francisco (after college) and took a minium wage job. Seriously, you can't afford to live there alone on those wages. She's getting exactly what she wanted by writng a letter like that. She probably wanted a go fund me page. Why work? Don't donate.

They have raised 2,272 out of 3,000 so far.

I'm with @missy1 and the ignorance of youth. If what I'm understanding is true, how do you graduate college and accept a job in a city without running the lifestyle numbers first? It absolutely amazes me that some people can have a degree and still not understand the concept of a budget. Good luck on getting the second job. How would like that as your reference for past job history?

many employers are at will employers these days, you can quit for no reason and they can fire you for no reason.

She was dumb to think she could live in the most expensive city in the US and live on $12.hour. So she complained publicly about it and got fired. Why would anyone want to donate their own hard earned money to help her.Isn't that what parents are for?

I was thinking about this, too.

It seems that when people don't know what to do, they seem to go to social media about it.

I think what she should have done, was what some of her peers did. Some of them got a side job. There's nothing wrong with doing that.

Also, if she was really hungry, she could have gone to a food pantry to get some additional food, too.

She could have gone to some community service agencies for additional help if she felt that she was really struggling. They would have referred her for additional help, if they felt that it was necessary.

I just finished reading her rambling, whiny,and poorly written letter. Poor thing- been at this, her first job, for six whole months and has not had a promotion yet! .Living in an expensive area without a roommate on a minimum wage salary was her first mistake. Did she not run the numbers beforehand?

My son is also 25. Also a college graduate with a marketable degree. Earns more than minimum wage using the skills his degree prepared him for. Paying his expenses, including car and modest amount of student loan debt. Worked multiple jobs and lived at home for 2 1/2 years to save money, enough that he and his fiance just bought a lovely house two months ago.

Clearly, all this young woman's expectations are out of whack. How was she raised? With any practical life skills? Writing that snarky letter may have been therapeutic, but hitting Send was a job killer. Better luck next time, but only if she can manage to lose the attitude.

I have only donated to one Go Fund Me account, and that was a lical business.

I have to admit, when GFM first started, I wanted to conduct an experiment, which was to have an account where people would donate to me, just because.

But let me stress this, I NEVER, EVER WENT THROUGH WITH IT!!!!

I just was curious if people would donate to a worthless "cause".

But as I said, I NEVER WENT THROUGH WITH IT!

My conscience wouldn't let me do it.

I hope that everyone is clear on that.

But I sometimes wonder if I had gone through with it, would anyone have donated.

I will never know.

But when I see some of the GFM accounts, I think that people will donate to anything, like that one woman who set up a GFM account asking for money because she spent all of hers buying Mega Lotto lottery tickets, or that rapper who claimed that he was "broke", and he set up a GFM account, and people actually donated to it.

So, if people are willing to donate to those silly "causes", I'm pretty sure that someone would have donated to my silly "cause".

It's not always easy to relocate to another part of the country where the cost of living is lower without knowing someone first to direct you to the best area to live. If her parents also lived in SF then yes they should have helped her to avoid self destructing at work.

Well, she raised $2300, which should hold her together until she gets a more rational plan. She mentions her father living there, so she might move in with him I would think. I do think she needs to get another job and a darn good budget.

It was odd, some of the posters to her letters said the 20 somethings as a group are more impractical than the 30 somethings. I don't know whether that is true. My son and his friends are 30 somethings and very practical. What do you think?
