National Random Acts of Kindness Day

Didn't want anyone to be caught off guard.

This morning when I stopped for coffee, I left an additional $5 toward the next cars order. Hope they pass it on.

I try to do random acts of kindness every day, from paying it forward, to opening doors for others (more elderly than me! or handicapped), to assist the disabled reaching products on a high shelf, etc.

I also always smile at and say "good morning/afternoon" to anyone that I make eye contact with.

It's amazing how little it takes to make someone else smile! And it makes me feel good in the process!

Now, I hate to do this here, but I guess I am in need of a random act of kindness myself. Ha! For the love of Pete, I can't find the button on the forums to start a new topic. Have I lost my mind? I reply to threads here alot, but don't start that many. Yesterday, I wanted to ask a question about one of the Luminara candles that was presented.....could never find the new discussion tab, or whatever it's called. Now, can't find it this morning either. I was on Internet Explorer, and just tried Chrome to see if that was the problem. Nope. What the heck is going on? Am I just blind and clueless?

Sorry to have to post this here, but I'm sure you see my dilemma. I can't start a new thread asking where the new thread button is located. LOL! Geez, I really hope someone doesn't say, "it's right there, you idiot." And then I do indeed see it...I will be pretty embarrassed. But then calling me an idiot today wouldn't be very kind, would it.

I do not start topics often either. When you get to the Forum you want there is a button that says "New Messages". Click on that to start a new discussion. Hope that helps

Well, DUH, that's it. I was looking for the button when on the "view all forum topics" main page. I forgot you have to go to a topic page before the button will show up. See, I told you I don't start many new discussions here. Ha!

I'm sorry but I think this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. First of all I seriously doubt that the clerk at the Mc Donalds window does anything with that money that is left but pockets it 90% of the time. And who is to say you aren't giving your money to buy a coffee for a multimillionaire? I prefer to direct my donations to where they are needed. My random acts of kindness are much more likely going to go to homeless or terribly poor in my community or if I would see a soldier I may buy his/her meal.

While discussing various groups to donate (or not) to, a friend of mine said (paraphrasing) "in the end it's not about where the money ends up, particularly if the donation isn't a large one, it's about what was in your heart when you gave it - you have no control over what others do with it".

I thought he made a good point.

Uh, this exact thing happened to me about six weeks ago. I pulled up to the McDonad's window to pay and was told the vehicle in front of me had just paid for my order. I said, "Wow! Okay, then I will pay for the one behind me." My order was only a $1.13 (I buy too many large Diet Cokes there, ha!) and the order behind me was like $4.50. The attendant looked at me like "you got the short end of that stick." I told her that was just the luck of the draw, and drove off feeling good that day.

NONE OF US can ever be 100% sure our donations are going where we intend. All we can do is feel good about the giving.
