That's how I'm trying to deal with another surgery I had on Friday 1/29. I posted some time ago that I had a Achilles Tendon repair on 12/16/15 from degenerative tears due to years of limping and pain in my left knee for which I ended up having a Total knee replacement in May of last year. Since the tendon repair, the wound reopened, started draining and I was put on antibiotics. I saw the Ortho last Tuesday for follow up, he took one look and said he would have to take me back to surgery to debride and reclose the wound because it was still draining a bit and he was concerned about infection that may go to my knee. So now I am back to no weight bearing and using a walker. He also thinks the walker boot I was in may have rubbed the incision area. Has anyone had a complication from this kind of surgery? I believe there is a reason for everything and that this set back will have an even better outcome than expected. All prayers are welcome

Thanks Kachina624. I was given a nerve block after surgery on Friday because I woke up in excruciating pain. It wore off this evening (1/30) and I was in quite a bit of pain but meds helped thank goodness. So I will keep a positive attitude and keep shopping QVC as a part of post op therapy

Oh you poor thing! What you've been thru sounds TERRIBLE -- an what you're still going thru.

I just had my sixth surgery on my left hip that was supposed to end in a hip replacement starting with the second surgery. Everytime they went in they found infection so I couldn't get the replacement. I'm barely making it without a hip joint and using a walker (barely can take a few steps even with that). I'm now having another type of surgery to fix my abdominal/intestinal areas and then will get the new hip.

There is hope eventhough it sometimes can be a journey. I still haven't lost hope. You can't. You have to accept where you are and what you have to do to get to where you want to go and what's feasible. It's OK to have bad days and be upset at times, but I've found it's best to hold on to hope and have faith in the medical people and just try to take it one day at a time, easy does it. Don't be too hard on yourself or expect too much too soon.

I totally recommend making sure you have the appropriate meds to deal with the pain and use them. That and doing PT exercises faithfully are what will really help in the long run.
