Guess who sent me a friend request on facebook?

Princer Harry of Wales. And yes, it is him. My cousin in Texas got one too. Must be some sort of publicity thing, or something to raise money for a cause. Lots of fun pictures of him & Wills as kids and of George & Charlotte.

what is the actual name of the persons account and how do you know it is a legitimate/authentic account of the prince?

i would be suspicious for sure.

Prince Harry of Wales. So what if it isn't him - looking at his FB page doesn't give anyone access to any of My information or my money. All that can be seen on my FB page is what I put out there to be seen by the public.

I would also be suspicious. There are so many pictures of all of them on the internet that anyone could copy those pictures and make a facebook account look legit. I remember when one of the actors from the series Supernatural had a facebook account set up in his name, acting like it was him, and it was completely false. It took a while for him to get facebook to shut that account down. I'm sure there have been other "celebrities" that have experienced the same thing.

Yesterday I had a friend request from some Spanish guy I don't know. I looked at his page and everything was in Spanish. Wonder if there's weird stuff happening on Facebook.I can't imagine.

It doesn't matter all that much as long as all you do is look, but if the "friend" eventually asks for money - no way would I think this is anything but a scam. You know, make people feel safe and special and included and then wham! Not pretty, but not uncommon.

The only information I have available on my FB page is my name - where I went to school and where I live - as in what city. So how does someone take that information and do anything harmful to me??? Really people, paranoid much?

I get a lot of pix of them that way, especially Harry.

Those 'tests' such as "What country matches your personality", What color is your soul?" or "Which of your friends will you end up with in a Retirement Home" that some of the Facebook friends are doing are fraud sites that get all their info plus all of their friends. I got an email from AARP that discussed it.

It is probably because one of your friends or family on Facebook filled out one of these "quizzes" in fun, and they got YOUR name from it because you are on their friends list.

a FB page from an "authentic" celebrity has a blue checkmark on their posts. That's how FB verifies it is them. I read Val Kilmer's page and he does answer his posts, all have his blue checkmark, but he does not "friend" all these people who read his page. It is just public for viewing and posting.

Some Pages and profiles have been verified by Facebook to let people know that they're authentic. If you see a blue badge on a Page or profile, it means that Facebook confirmed that this is the authentic Page or profile for this public figure, media company or brand. If you see a gray badge on a Page, it means that Facebook confirmed that this is an authentic Page for this business or organization.

No way in h*ll would I confirm a friend request from someone I don't personally know.

Not just for my benefit, but a 'bot' can cull information of all my FB friends when you 'open' the door to this scam.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. If the person behind it is a pro, they can get your IP address and then it all goes downhill from there.

Surely you jest. That's more than enough for even an inexperienced hacker. And I highly doubt Prince Harry is on FaceBook, shrugs.....

I had that happen to me, I had seen a friends post of a quiz and I "liked" it, did not do the quiz myself, and then one day had one show up as if I had done it, then a few days later another one popped up, I reported them to facebook, haven't seen or heard of anymore popping up as though I had filled them out, so hopefully that was the end of that. I also got some kind of post from the royals this morning, I deleted it.
