Price Increases

I have shopped QVC for too many years. But now I am very careful about what I purchase. The cost of the "designer" clothes is thru the roof. I prefer to buy locally at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Kohls, Macy's etc. The prices at QVC are too high! I still purchase super-size beauty, and I love Or Paz and Stainless Steel jewelry. I do still watch, just to get ideas. I hope someone will listen. If not, you have lost another customer.

By "mean," do you mean honest? I think it was a direct, honest, strightforward, truthful answer. QVC is a retailer and sells to make money not warm, fuzzy feelings.

Actually the OP is letting QVC know why she is not shopping here as much. Most businesses do like that info. She is correct IMO opinion. The "designer" prices has risen lately. Isaac Mizhrahi is the only one who has quality to justify his prices. Logo and Susan Graver quality you can get else where cheaper.

Qvc buys and manufactures in bulk and sells mass quantities at once sometimes as many as 10,000 units in a single day. Bulk rate discounts have always been expected and have always been the norm per the hosts from the day Qvc started. But the hosts don't say that too much nowadays.

Paying $80 for a rayon top at Qvc won't necessarily appeal to everyone.

I happen to agree--the Graver prices and some TSV's have been more than I think they are worth. I get clothing on sale now but I'm more careful about ordering as the quality is not super special. I ordered some suit jacket type things last year and they are not holding up well.

As to "whining"--that was definitely an unkind remark, combined especially with "can't afford." Kind of a shove. The thing you see on a playground. Do we need that here? Doesn't promote a helpful or friendly atmosphere, in my opinion.

I used to shop for fashion a lot here - but now I find that I can get better quality and prices at sales on J.Crew, JJill, Gap, Macys, etc.

JJill outlet prices are the best...I have Wearever styles that are 10 years old and look like new - and are still in fashion too!

I only shop locally now and am enjoying it and spending much less. TJ Maxx is my favorite. Just got the cutest pair of Sketchers for $39! Most Sketchers are not wide enough for my foot, but these were. Also got a three piece kitchen knife set (colorful!) for $7.99.

I am not a shopper; never have been, and never will be. When I walk into a department store, my eyes water and my nose starts burning from the dye in the clothing.

The last time I was in a store shopping for clothing would have been when my youngest daughter was a senior in high school---she is now in her mid 30's. To me, shopping in a store is time wasted that I can't get back.

I have good luck with online shopping----I can do something I don't enjoy to begin with, much faster, with far less hassle. If I see a tunic I like on Denim & Co, or Susan Graver, I read the description of the product, the customer reviews, and then decide if I'm ordering. I will happily pay a higher price for my clothing, if it saves me from the hassle of getting dressed to go out, driving 20 miles one way to the mall, and going in stores I don't want to be in to begin with. Again, time wasted I can't get back.

I agree with the OP.

I do enjoy shopping at QVC and over the years have gotten some items I like a lot. It's great for the occasional clothing item or "as is", but I cannot afford a steady diet of QVC clothing. Let's face it, shopping here is mostly for people who have some extra disposable income. Or for people who need the convenience of shopping this way. Not everyone can get out to Macys or whatever. Working moms, housebound people appreciate the convenience. Quality is good.

My pet peeve on this board -- when you say you don't think something is value for the money some idiot will say something like "well you can't afford it". It has nothing to do with can or can not afford it -- it has to do with the object not being worth the price they are asking for it. Not value for the dollar is completely different from can't afford it.

Of course there are things I can't afford - and I'll say so - that is a totally different discussion.

I agree with the prices. They have gotten out of hand lately, considering the s&H charges and returns if you have to.

QVC should at least offer more sales prices like the mall stores.

It's one thing if the quality was there and consistant sizing. There is too much inconsistant sizing with all of the brands and then we have to spend the return s&h.

The quality needs to be upgrades. Alot of clothing is made cheaply.

Maybe QVC can offer free s&h on returns to try different sizes? Just a thought. All of your major retailers do that, that is why most of my clothing purchasing is with them and not QVC.

This is what I find so objectionable about the so-called designers who sell on QVC in conjunction with QVC's price-setting. QVC's mantra used to be "give the customer a break in price because of bulk sales." This is no longer true. QVC's mantra now seems to be "greed above giving the customer a pricing break."

I have posted through the years that I am so grateful for taking a Clothing textiles class at college. You do learn about fabrics and how they are made and used. All the polyester (no matter what they call it today) is made for penies. It still is today. Why the outrageous prices? You can figure that out all by yourself.
