Do You Like Thunderstorms?

I do! I LOVE thunderstorms!

They scare one of my cats, the other will watch the lightning.

Every flash of lightning is unique, and the concussion of the thunder is awsome!

I especially love lightning at night. It's like nature's fireworks.

So powerful.

So humbling.

So, do you like thunderstorms?

Not especially. I don't mind rain, but I find some of those loud claps of thunder a little frightening.

I love them, especially at night when I'm snug in bed. Unfortunately, it rarely rains at night here where I live.

I love them. I turn off all the lights, light candles, open a bottle of wine, and play Rachmaninoff. I also love to fall asleep to them.

I love them too.... and love "counting" from when I see the lightening to when I hear the thunder and then calculating how far away the lightening was... 1 second for every mile....

I Love Thunderstorms!! I was born during one, so my Mom told me.

Now, once the wind whips up and the sky turns green, the wall clouds form ..... Not so much I live near the DuPage river and clouds are rotating over my house more times than I can count. Too many tornados and microbursts too close in recent years. We have been lucky so far.

Still, I love thunderstorms.

I do like thunderstorms as long as I'm home and have a flashlight nearby in case the lights go out. My dog is scared of thunder so I try to keep her calm.

I like thunderstorms although I don't know why. Lightning has hit my house or trees nearby 4 times!

The last time it hit a tree next to my house, bounced off of the tree and caught the roof on fire.

Long story, short, we couldn't live in the house for exactly 5 months. It cost our insurance company $285,000 to get the house back in shape (new everything).

So, while I do love thunderstorms, I always cross my fingers too.

Fun topic!

I used to love them. But when we moved to our latest house, we didn't realize the pattern of water flow for big storms, and we have a lot of flooding on our property from a big storm. Sometimes we have three driveways wash out completely, and it is backbreaking work and takes us weeks to do the clean up. Our pond will overflow into the front yard, and we risk flooding into the house, although it has only happened with flooding the basement, and not in a long time.

So I now hate thunderstorms. I get anxious and worry, especially at night, because I can hear the water rushing across the back of the property or down the road, and can only guess how bad it is getting.

It makes me sad I can't enjoy a good thunderstorm anymore, because I used to love it.

I liked them more before I moved to Texas. They are much scarier here and sometimes I feel like a window will break. I think them as long as I'm not driving in them and they don't have the kind of thunder that sets off car alarms.

I have some white noise machines and apps that have great thunderstorm sounds I like to listen to while I fall asleep.

I love counting the seconds too.

For every five seconds = 1 mile.

I remember one night when I was about 16 or 17 and there was a thunderstorm one night.

There was a flash of cloud-to-cloud lightning. I started to count the seconds. I got as far as "One thou", before KA-BOOOOOM!!!!

The kid in me still loves them. I remember my mother prying me away from the window while I was trying to get a better look.

The adult in me is a little bit more respectful of the phenomenon, so I don't hang on a windowsill as much.

I love the thunderstorms but not the lightning that usually accompanies them. I really like sleeping on a dark rainy night with a metal roof over me.

Yes I do and I also count the seconds between lightning and thunder heard.

Thunderstorms in the mountains are much louder and echo more I've noticed.
