Update on Walgreen's cosmetic prices!

I mentioned the price of a Cover Girl lipstick was $6.89 at Target and $8.89 at Walgreen's, bought it at Target.

Today I went to W's for a few things and decided to go ahead and buy the second lipstick so I'd have an extra and not run out! Well, when I went to pay the cashier told me to take $3 off my total as I had racked up enought points on my W's "customer card" to get that off! So, it made up for the $2 difference in prices! It's funny how a little thing like that can make your day a little better

We frequent Walgreens and have since 1980. Since all of our meds are ordered from them, plus non-MAC m/u since I retired, plus a bunch of holiday stuff and on and on, the points do mount up.

I recall one instance where the pharm tech asked me if I wanted to use my points toward a rather expensive cream I use, so I said "Yes." Saved me $18.

I have noticed that all cosmetics are pricey. I think that the false hopes and lies are so sought after by the masses, that they can ask for higher prices. As women we probably should not be so shallow, insecure, or vain. Unfortunately, we are an image driven society now - the genie is out of the bottle. It will take some effort to restrain him.

I don't think any of us argue that we pay high prices for the hope of a lipstick that will make our butt look smaller, but with drugstore makeup you can shop around & get the best price. Walgreens & Target charge higher prices than Walmart or Meijer. I do shop at Walgreens because they & Meijer always get the new stuff first.

I think it is a given that Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS etc are much higher in prices on most items including make-up.

They are famous for Buy One Get One 50% Off. I will do that if I have coupons or points to redeem. Walgreens often has make-up clearance and if that week they have BOGO 50% off..the Clearance Make-Up is included too.

CVS had 50-75% off Clearance sale recently. Physician's Formula had $3 and $5 coupons on their packages. That was a savings. Some items I paid next to nothing for.

I like Walgreens maybe for the odd seasonal items .and clearance on make-up. Otherwise I don't buy their makeup at full price.

I just found out the other day that I have $15.00 in points!!! I remember over the summer I was behind a woman checking out and she had over $40.00 in reward points.

Do you know if they ever expire?

We go to Walgreens because there is one convenient to us both here in Florida and when we are up in Pa. to get Rx filled. However, that is becoming less and less of an issue since the Walgreens in our little town up north never has the drugs in stock and they have become such a hassle that I am seriously considering going to Walmart instead. There is a Walmart in the next town over when we are in Pa and we grocery shop near by so it would be fine, and we have a Walmart super store in our Florida town. Our insurance company is threatening to remove them as part of their network because they are more expensive than other chains.

Walgreen s prices are higher than Target. Also Target gives 5% off if you use their card.

If your insurance has mail order prescriptions covered in their plan, it may be easier and cheaper to use mail order. Never thought I would convert to this method, but it saves time and money. A little tricky when I am in FL, but then I would use UPS in a pinch.

We tried mail order the first year we snowbirded but it was difficult to get them to send to a PO Box and then difficult again in the fall to get them back to our home address so the next year we started with Walgreens. This snowbirding does make some things a bit complicated.

Oh puh-leeze! Not all of us use makeup with the thought that it will change our lives! I had perviously posted a thread about buying makeup at Target vs. Walgreen's.

Nor am I one who thinks that using a certain lipstick will make my butt look smaller! Good grief, what are some of you assuming about others?

A few months ago I tossed all my old makeup which I hadn't used in a long time. Recently decided to start again and bought Almay foundation (always loved it), NYC Pink Colorwheel Blush and Covergirl lipstick #405 (Temptress Rose). Makes me feel good and my family likes it!

I buy most of my makeup at Target or Rite Aid. I get 5% off with my Target Card. Rite Aid is super convenient to my house so I will go in there and get things when I don't have time to go to Target. Their BOGOs are good. I used to buy things at Walmart but their selection for what I use is just not as good anymore. I hadn't been in a Walgreens for ages until a few weeks ago. I recently went there because I couldn't find what I needed at either Target or Rite Aid, and I was shocked at how much more expensive the item was.
