First, Do No Harm

Have you seen the video of the fourth-year med student doctor in neurology and her meltdown on the Uber driver? She has been suspended by the med school pending investigation. Here is the article with link to video:

Kudos to the driver for keeping his cool after getting kneed in the groin and having his possessions tossed into the street.

What do you think? Should she lose her medical license? I would like to see something happen, like AA meetings for a year, no alcohol, etc., etc. before she gets any medical privileges back. If ever. Another case of too little parenting?

Wow! She's obliviously drunk. Maybe something bad happened to her like a boyfriend dumped her...who knows?... but that does NOT excuse her aggressive and obnoxious behaviour! I noticed that she was barefoot which I thought was odd.

I would never want an entitled brat (I'm being nice) like that to ever treat me or one of my family members! She's an idiot and needs to be fired!

What I don't understand is why she wasn't arrested. The Uber driver should have pressed charges.

I don't know if it's a result of under or over (as in hover) parenting but it certainly seems like poor parenting!

She's a resident so she should be kicked out of the program. She seems quite full of herself (from her photos). I'm assuming she's with Jackson Memorial and frankly unless I had no options I would never choose a neurologist from that facility.

she obviously feels entitled. If this is how she treats people, how would she respond when things don't go her way in a hospital setting.

next she'll be suing the uber driver, like the former Taco Bell executive who beat up his uber driver, then once caught, said he didn't give permission to be voice recorded. Give me a break.

this woman seemed to be playing to the camera while attacking the man & the corker was when she said she was smaller than him so who would believe him!

What a waste of an education.

All I can say is "wow!"...obviousy raised as a "little princess" who got whatever she wanted and was never disciplined or held accountable for anything she did wrong. It was obvious when she said in the video that she could do whatever she wanted and kept touching and fixing her hair while she was having her tantrum, that she is very full of herself! I am very impressed with the patience of the driver!

I didn't read the whole article, so I'm not sure if she's being charged criminally with assault, but she should absolutely be disciplined by the state licensing board. Would you want THAT operating on your brain?! I hope she was drunk, but I'm not even sure! Hissy fitting little twerps like this one abound. She certainly doesn't carry herself like a medical professional, that's for sure. And, O/T, but sooo tired of the duck lip selfies. Now we have neurologists (that word does not slip easily off my tongue here) doing it with stethoscopes and scrubs? Oh please make it stop.

I medical STUDENT is just that - a student. She does not have a license.

Medical personnel live to a higher standard than most of us. I saw what happened to a friend of mine. She drove drunk, hit two cars and got out of her vehicle and ran. She also lied about not having her young children in the vehicle. She was put on probation by the medical board and she spent thousands on a lawyer. Her husband divorced her, she lost her business and her million dollar house. She had to work at the state prison as part of her probation. She is working now, but every time a potential boss googles her, up pops the judgement against her,

@151949, I am just using the same terminology used in ALL of the articles. If you want to take it up with them, have at it. I did notice that her white jacket does have MD embroidered on it:

I have known several med students who have earned the title of MD while still in school. Just depends how far along they are in their studies,

Well she obviously is in fine form but no I do not think she deserves to be tossed out of the program. This was not on hospital or school grounds and while she is in the wrong from what we can see. She does get shoved pretty forcefully by someone who is bigger then her. If she had fallen back and hurt herself we would have a different take on this.

I doubt she is cognizant of how bad she looks or is behaving or that her medical peers are sanctimoniously judging her. (And please their are a ton of male doctors who are full of themselves act badly in public and have no repercussions for their behaviour)

She's a 4th year resident not a regular student. Still training, but graduated from college. She's employed by the hospital according to the news.

I saw the video. What obnoxious, aggressive, and horrible behavior! This woman shouldn't even be allowed to clean out cages at a kennel, let alone be a doctor. My career was as an academic advisor at an Ivy League university. Pre-Med competition was fierce. In the old days, when students had to go to the library for some of their reading assignments, books or journal articles that were put "on reserve." That meant there were a limited number of readings available to students. Too many times, in pre med classes, some students would go to the library as quickly as possible to take the articles away so that other students couldn't see them. Cheating was also rampant.

I often wondered what kind of character flaws the system rewards. Competition is one thing. Cheating and destroying other people's opportunities are another matter altogether. The intangibles that make good doctors, like empathy, humanity, and compassion, as well as curiosity and creativity, don't get you into med school. Academic standards for med school need to be high but to me this woman's behavior points to all that's wrong with the way we choose physicians. We don't need any more arrogant, aggressive individuals treating the sick. I don't care if she was drunk. In vino veritas.

Well she deserved to be pushed IMO, he was trying to get away from her.

Do I think she needs to be fired? No. It was really stupid on her part, but the world is full of people making bad decisions. I'm guessing finding out if she has a drinking problem might be an issue.
