Wow! 140 customers reported lacerations of their fingers to QVC, including four who required stitches. That is a large number, you know there were lacerations that weren't reported.

I'm one of those who didn't report lacerations! I cut myself opening those ornaments. Such a cheap, terrible design. I was then embarassed when my colleagues (to whom I gave these ornaments) had so many troubles opening them. I figured I had a bad batch and then I was incompetent. Fortunately, I saw this and the Q swiftly refunded my money. Good QVC CS but bad product.

Oh my! I came close a few times to ordering Cheryl's cookies...just never did. I buy the Lofthouse cookies that are available here and they look quite comparable, reasonably priced and are delicious too. I also get coupons once in awhile

No excuse for something like that happening. Someone along the design and production line should've spotted that danger long before they were sold to the public. It certainly doesn't sound like it was a "one in a million" defect.

How on earth were the cookies packaged in these ornaments without the workers slicing their hands? Were they wearing heavy-duty work gloves?

I used to work on assembly lines. Nowadays, they become more and more automated. Probably somewhere along the assembly line, machines actually put the cookies in by a drop and load process...just guessing though. Also, workers would also have to wear gloves around food products too...wearing protective clothing like hair nets and booties too (in most (should be all) food processing plants).

It still begs the question...where is the QC???

No doubt, the ornaments were made in China, shipped as separate pieces (tops/bottoms) and dumped in hopper machines...so for the most part, probably were barely handled by the cookie co workers themselves.

Still, there should be a QC check upon any incoming materials from sub contractors/vendors before using/accepting...SMH

I remember when I used to work at Ponds in CT...I used to dump huge boxes of empty Vaseline plastic jars/bottles into hoppers!

I didn't buy these but I am wondering how did they get through the Quality Control that the Hostss constantly remind us of....

I ordered these the previous year and never saw a hint of a sharp edge, so something in the manufacturing process must have changed. I didn't order them again because the ones I received were nearly impossible to open.
