Are Your Views Influenced by Poll Numbers?

I was recently polled by phone regarding my opinion on a local school district referendum. Even if my answers to the questions concur with a minority of the respondents, I don't think my opinion will change on this issue. Do you have an opinion about the influence of polling results?

They don't influence me unless it is about something I have read about but don't know that much about.

Like if all the teachers or some group are voting for something, I'll look into it more based on their opinion and probably go with it if it benefits them and I'm okay with that solution. if that makes sense.

No. I make my own decisions based on my own views, beliefs, studies, and wishes for the future. Polls mean nothing to me.

My views aren't influenced by poll numbers.

I used to prepare statistical analyses for a major medical center, and learned how many variables there are. (I had the quote, attributed to many sources, in my office: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, dam-ed lies, and statistics." That says it all.)

Polls can sway to and fro depending upon what the questions are, how they're phrased, etc. So, unfortunately, I'm too skeptical.

I also agree with Preds, also there are times when I feel the poll respondents believe the "hype" that has gone on & not necessarily the facts.

I think this is true as well. So everyone really has to research the facts; the truth behind it all to make a decision based on that, not polls or popular opinion or hype-the same I feel we should do with all things and people and situations.

Considering how I have answered some poll questions I wouldn't trust the results if every single individual polled stood in front of me and confirmed that is how they answered.

No. Not influenced by polls. Who is doing the polling and I have yet to be asked in all the years and elections I've lived through.

I find the media hypers to be all a bunch of liars anyway.

I know what I've researched and I know what I want and don't want. My views are influenced by life experiences, my genetic makeup, and my parental upbringing. I don't take a lot of stock in polls because I don't know how the respondents were selected or what their demographic is or for that matter what area of the country they live in. Sometimes I look to see who is endorsing someone as that can be very telling, but I know my own idealogy and philosophy. No one is going to change that. By the way, in all my years as a voter, no one has ever polled me as to what candidate I am supporting. You'd think it would have happened at least once, but it hasn't. THAT'S why I am skeptical.

I have been asked several times over the years - maybe that is because I do not belong to either political party.

Hi, deep, no--I don't pay attentions to polls, though they do make me anxious sometimes when they are way off of what I would prefer.

But I am not swayed by polls. I won't give my opinions to pollsters, either, partly because I do a great deal of my work from home and do not welcome the interruptions.
