Bluetooth Car speaker recommendations wanted

I have an older car - which I love - and a tracphone. I tend to leave my phone in my purse and ofiten can't hear it ring in the car.

Does anyone have recommendations for Blutooth Car speaker devices? I don't want anything i have to put in my ear.

I've been looking at the Jabra Freeway, and Motorola Roadster and similar devices.

I got my husband a Jabra for Christmas and he likes it. Don't remember which one. Got it from Amazon and I think it wa around $60.

@CinNC I'm on the phone a lot even when I'm driving, due to my job........I have a Motorola T2700 Roadster.......I LOVE IT........the calls are very clear, no one will know you're on a speaker talking to them.......it's hands free, when you get a call you just say answer and it will answer the call or say ignore and it will just let it ring.........if you have voice recognition on your phone, just say the name of who you want to call and the call is placed.........it's awesome

Doesn't the phone have to have Bluetooth capability?

There was a news segment the other night that said while people all know you can be ticketed for driving and being on your hand held phone ...... that hands free phone conversations also can be just as dangerous.

When you hang up, it can take up to a full 30 seconds for your brain to focus completely on your driving.

I'm sure the laws vary by state as to what's allowed.

Sorry - guess I didn't explain that very well. My phone carrier is track phone but my phone is an unlocked Moto E bought from a different online vendor - so the phone has bluetooth. I just keep it in my purse in the car so I have to haul it out etc to answer it, but usually, for safety reasons, pull over to read a text or ignore texts while I'm driving. The Motorola Roadster looks interesting as it says it reads texts to you.

Yes it does............it will keep you hands free and when you get a call will let you know who it is before you deceide to take the call or not.........and it's only 49 dollars at Choxi..........I think it may be just what you are looking for.................................raven

Hi Raven - thanks for the recommendation. One of the reviews I read on the Choxi webiste said you have to use it with a Motorola App that is no longer available if you want to have texts read to you. .

@CinNC I never used an app and mine reads my texts to me.......I think your phone has to have that option.........I have a galaxy note and it will turn a voice mail to text, maybe that is why the Motorola will read my texts also.....................................................raven

I've read about that, too, @Tinkrbl44. There's proposed legislation in many places to ban all use of cell phones (hands-free or not), because the research on distracted driving is clear. (Too many links to post, but a search for "distracted driving hands free" is interesting and helpful.) Experts say the more these things are allowed in vehicles, or even built into them, the more accidents we'll be experiencing.
