I just turned 69 last week but I skipped 8th grade so most of my friends are turning 70 this year. It's hard to believe that all those "kids" are now senior citizens. Most of the celebrities mentioned have had procedures done but they also take good care of their bodies. I would never subject myself to plastic surgery. I've had enough required surgeries to want to avoid anything optional. However, I work out five days a week, despite decrepit knees, and I work hard to maintain my normal weight. All I can do is try to eat well, dress well, put on my make-up before I go out the door, and do my hair each day. I want to be the best I can be at almost 70. I refuse to give up...yet.

Frequently when stars pass away and I read how old they are I am shocked. I suppose in our minds everyone stays young including ourselves. My DH turned 71 last fall - it is a shock to me. When we were younger we would say it would be fine to live til 80 but don't want to go too long after that. Now he is closing on 80 i have changed my mind on that. So many of my friends are widows or have severely ailing husbands. really scary.

Our neighbor is getting senile. She is so horribly forgetful and sometimes very disoriented. Yesterday she was fussing that something was stolen from her garage - here her son had it. Anyway, she is only a year older than my DH - very scary.

I'm closer to 80 than I am to 70 and those men you mention ain't got nothing on me. Sure some may have some political power, another a TV show and another an actor, all with a whole lot more $$$$$$ than me.

Many have told me I look like the ageless, pot smoking Willie Nelson and/or the late George Carlin, so I feel pretty good about how I have aged. And I do not have 1 single ripple line in my forehead, they cannot all say that, can they now?

As for the ladies you listed? I know at least 2 of them have had a little work done. One on her face the other? Never mind! I've had cosmetic surgery done myself, but none that has anything to do with looking younger. Smaller nose/smaller waist and a !little more hair.

Can't wait to see the big 80 roll around. Hope I am earthside when I see it.

hckynut(john)

Where I live there are a lot of people in their 80s who are still very active and getting around just fine , but also some who are just sad to see them declining severely.
