I bought one ticket and only had one number. Better luck next time! I only buy about 10-15 lottery tickets a year and don't like Powerball because it's $2 a ticket. I might buy two tickets for the next drawing but no more than that with the odds of winning so small.

There were a number of $1 million winners and at least one who got $2 million. That won't make you rich, especially with about one-third taken off for taxes, but it helps with savings and a few purchases you otherwise wouldn't make.

The lottery is a tax on people who can't do math.

That being said, There's no harm in throwing away a couple of dollars, if you choose and can affored it. What is so sad is people of lesser means invest a larger proportion of their incomes in lotteries with the hope of improving their situation. Money wasted.

Yes it is sad, but I understand where they are coming from. When your life seems to never improve, one holds on to that one last smidget of hope.

@SahmIam- I have numbers I always play, year round. When the jackpot gets really big I add a few quick picks also.

I'll buy two tickets, but I will let the machine pick them for me. I was reading. Most people who pick their own numbers pick the lower ones... as in special dates and birthdays. The lottery goes to higher numbers than that. The odds are better to take your chances on random...

Add me to those shocked that there was no big winner. I rarely buy tickets unless the jackpots get very (over $200 million) large, and I always do quick picks. I have no superstitions about family birthdays, etc. I bought 5 tickets on Friday, and will buy 5 more now. I'm also covered in a pool at work.

I'm not superstituous, but last night when I saw that the Poweball number was 13, I kind of got chills. Seeing that the next drawing is on the 13th also kind creeps me out.

My Dad never bought a lot of tickets or very often, but he had a set of numbers that he always used and before he died, he gave me his numbers. I seldom buy a ticket but every once in a while I will use his numbers just for fun and maybe a little luck.
