What Things Did You Learn in 2015?

Just some thoughts: I learned:

How to prepare and mince garlic

Make home-made spaghetti sauce

Set up a printer by myself

Clean & reassemble a stand up fan

To be more grateful

To be strong

To meet new people

To share my grief in a grief group setting

To reach out for help

Not everyone has your best interests at heart

My beloved parents (who have passed) are always with me

To try with all my heart in all the adversity to keep the faith

To trust myself

That all humans are sisters and brothers in mankind and we should respect and care for each other regardless of our differences. .

I learn something new everyday and it would be shorter to write what I did not learn but my top sentence was the most important.

I learned: that I am very blessed to live here in this country

that expressing gratitude is very important

not to take good health for granted; work at taking care of myself

that my needs really are simple and I don't need all the things I buy

to enjoy my family and my life every day!

I am a lot stronger than I give myself credit

In certain areas I'm a lot like my mother and give up without trying

When the chips were down, I learned which friends are real friends

I have more supporters than I dreamed

My team leader has my back and supports me

I can't take good health for granted

I buy things I don't need or want

I need to expand my circle of friends

1. That I'm actually cool toned and was being tricked by crappy incandescent bulbs.

2. My skin looks better if I wear sunscreen every day.

3. That even though I say I have enough cats, I can never have too many lol.

4. I should have bought bluetooth headphones years ago. I just love the ones I have now

5. I should have shopped online for shoes years ago. I finally did this year and the result was 15 new pair of shoes. I'm really enjoying having shoes that reflect my style and fit well.

6. I love Pilates

7. I can lose weight just from diet and excersize and keep it off.

8. That cutting off 18 inches of hair would be a fun change I'd enjoy, and not regret after all.

One thing I've learned is to avoid the fighting on these forums. (I may pop some corn and join the deer in watching the show, but I'm gonna try to keep my mouth shut! ...er, my fingers still...) I don't want to write anything anonymously that would cause my embarrassment or another's sadness if said to someone's face.

My biggest thing, is what a worry wort I am. Come by it naturally!! I even did a book and drew balloon pictures. Inside I wrote each worry. By the time my concern was over, I went back and looked through each worry in my book. All for nothing. I can do ok sometimes and not worry, and that really let me see it was all wasted energy. I tore the page out of the book and threw the paper in the recycle bag. I need to do that more!!! I do nothing to promote good health when I worry! It's such a useless emotion to hang on to.

Hope those of you who also seem to worry like I do, good luck, it's a bad habit to get in to.

The most surprising thing I learned was that I am so very happy without a man in my life. I've been widowed since 2008 and always assumed I would wind up with another permanent relationship. In the seven years I've been testing the waters, none have been "it" and I finally realized this year it has nothing to do with "them." It's me, I just really don't want one. That was a moment of enlightenment for me, and freedom from the pursuit.

Good for you! That is such a strong and self-full attitude! We have to be comfortable with ourselves alone before we can be with someone, especially after your years with your dear husband. I am in the frame of mind that I'm not looking. If in the course of my life I meet a nice guy, great, but I'm not actively or desperately looking for him.

The BIGGEST, which was also the SADDEST thing I learned in 2015? I trusted one of my friends way too much and it sadly cost me dearly.

@MaggieMack I prefer my dogs. They are loyal, respectful, faithful, love you unconditionally, don't yell, don't lie and are cuddly.
