So annoyed with Amazon trolls

I'm so annoyed with Amazon trolls here, annoyed enough to decide to cancel my Prime membership which turns over next week.

I'm not cutting off my nose to spite my face - I don't buy a whole lot beyond books and now that the ofeerings from the public libraries are so much better, I just don't need Amazon all that much.

I had promised myself to give them up last year and missed the deadline somehow - not happening this year. The troll Amazon is probably paying just paid me $99. I'll keep careful track of my Amazon shipping costs in 2016, but I bet they'll be under 99. It's a good deal if you order lots of heavy stuff or stream music and TV -- I do none of those. Bye Anazon.

@millieshops you had me till the part about canceling your membership : ) I can't stand the spamming trolls here but I can't do without Prime lol.

It looks like the mods removed all those threads pretty quickly.

I don't have Prime and I have never paid shipping at Amazon. Everything I have purchased falls in the $35 ships free or free shipping from the vendor. It neve seemed like a smart purchase for me.

And QVC needs to fully remove the thread, or the spam continues. There's still at least one floating around.

(Hmm....or maybe Amazon is paying to have these appear, thus they don't disappear completely?)

At any rate, it won't have any negative impact on my Prime membershp. I buy a lot more from Amazon than most other places

LOL, as far as I can tell it was one poster that flooded the board 2 days in a row. They weren't Amazon, just a regular posters trying to get the word out of the sale IMO. So it really has nothing to do with prime. I watch a lot of video as well as take advantage of free shipping. I save well over the $99 a year. To each his own.

I don't know if this is what the O/P is speaking to but there were about seven or eight separate threads that were started highlighting sales on Amazon (I didn't click on the link to find out and promptly reported them to the mods who removed them).

I am an unabashed Amazon fan (I am streaming their music as I type) and I would find it hard to believe they are behind this spamming but again, I didn't click on the link so I can't speak to what the purpose of the posts were for.

I don't see how cancelling your personal prime hurts anyone but yourself, but that said, QVC could easily put firewalls in place to stop this kind of wholesale spamming.

I like shopping at Amazon, so I don't need to be reminded of their deals. I can't see any reasons for me to continue with Prime. Most of the shows and movies I want to stream aren't available through Prime. (I have to pay extra for them.) The last five items I've placed in my shopping cart aren't eligible for Prime shipping, so I don't see why I should continue with Prime.

@DiAnne You are so right. When I first tried Prime with a free membership and then extended it, the public libraries offered very few newer books for free reading and I did use the Prime quite a bit.

Less and less now - and if I decide to order from them again, I, too, will wait until I want $35+ or whatever their floor price for free shipping is at the time.

What I won't do - anyplace - is to buy something i really don't want just to get free shipping. Very little I need so quickly that I can't wait.

So if they weren't automated posts, it seems pretty silly to blame Amazon for them, or to assume that Amazon pays people to make them. People have been saying that about competitors for years, but that doesn't make it true. Every time there is a thread in these forums where posters accuse other posters of being QVC trolls, shills, employees, etc. - why don't people stop shopping at QVC then, *and stop posting* in outrage? Same logic.

I never report posts as inappropriate, but I did report the Amazon spam that appeared in the Pet chat this morning. Five minutes later, it was completely poofed, gone, bye-bye! All the ones I've seen have been by "new" posters. Yeah, like if I was going to spam away here I would use my customary nic???

I get full value from my Prime membership. Love the streaming feature and book lend. That alone makes it worthwhile and the Prime free shipping is a great bonus. The trolling posts might tip someone over the edge if they were teetering, but I am solidly happy with the service so the trolls I can overlook.
