Love MaryBeth

MaryBeth is a great host. But I have a difficult time listening to her say HERES THE THING hundreds of times over a three hour span of time. After the first 50 times of hearing HERES THE THING.... I start to wait for the next time I will hear it and tune out what else she is saying... or change the channel.

I wish she would work on deleting this phrase and try not to say the phrase so often. I think if she just left it out and continued on with discribing what she is selling, it would work out fine. It is not necessary to say HERES THE THING. It is just a bad habit. Being that her job is speaking on National TV, she should want to improve her presentations I would think by deleting HERES THE THING.

I understand what you are saying, but it doesn't bother me. Lol, I guess I am just used to it, I don't even hear it anymore. I love Mary Beth, one of my favorites! 💗

I totally agree. I don't think she is as sharp anymore and seems to be at a loss for what to say and this "heres the thing" comes out all the time. You can almost predict when she is going to say it too!

I totally agree with you SeaMaiden. She says it all the time. Over and over. It gets old really fast. It is just a habit. I wonder if she even realizes she says it. With that said, I have enjoyed her for many years. She seems like such a nice woman.

I've always enjoyed watching Mary Beth as she seems very genuine but "here's the thing", I too find myself focusing on that phrase rather than what she's saying about the products.

That would be a fun game but I'm guessing most of us would be passed out by the end of her show!!!

i think mary beth is a genuine traditional lady and you don't see them that often anymore.

i have a lot of respect for her.

TBH I would read posts like this and think it was just exaggeration until recently when I happened to be watching one of her presentations. What surprised me was how much it bothered me.

I honestly think she doesn't mean to say it so much and we don't mean for it to bother us. I know I was taken aback of how annoying I found it. And she happens to me one of my favorite hosts.

Here's the thing - she is not a "great" host. None of them are.

She is a nice woman, and does an acceptable job.

They all have their weird sayings and "routines". I think she says "here's the thing" so much because she has nothing else to say and it's just a bad habit.

Cut her some slack...she has been at it for what almost thirty years? At least she speaks English and doesn't make up words....and, it is much better than repeating amazing,amazing, amazing all the time...

I find it annoying to see ALL of their gleaming, fluorescent white teeth burning a hole in my tv screen...................

I think Mary Beth's pleasant manner overrides the "here's the thing." I have always read that to replace a bad habit, you begin a new habit. I would hate to see "here's the thing" replaced with amazing, you know, uhh, or made up words.

She has a nice way about her, always looks appropriately dressed, keeps family talk to a minimum, doesn't giggle, dance, flirt, behave in a frantic way, never rude. There seems to be more pluses than minuses. I like her.

She is from a time of classy ladies with manners and common sense. She helped make QVC from the early days. At least I don,t get hyper watching her.

I think she's wonderful. However, it's time for one of the directors or producers to review some tape with her and practice a few presentations to help her eliminate use of that phrase. In a multi hour show or timeframe she says that at least a hundred times. No one is exaggerating here.

@Desertdi - Funny you should say that. The other night for some reason I really noticed how white the hostess teeth were. It was almost like they stood out from the rest of her face. I don't know if she did something different or it just caught my attention, but it was very vivid to me.

I'm sure most TV personalities have veneers so that their teeth are straight and white. Most people don't have perfect teeth like that. I know I don't.

I really wish QVC would allow MBR to present on more cooking shows. She is the one host that I could watch all day when she does those cooking shows. She makes me laugh and really looks like she is enjoying herself. I don't care to watch David in the kitchen, I know many love him. David does a good job, but I can relate so much more with MBR.
