MORE SNOW

Our city put out a "Winter Alert" last night. Expecting 8-12" of snow today. Snowing and blowing as I post watching from our beautiful all glass 4- season patio room.

Now that my wife is now retired, we don't get too concerned about getting snowed in for awhile. Sure makes life easier for us now. Beautiful scene to watch the birds, mostly crows right now. But at some point comes the bad part of having lots of property. I still a bit stiff from the shoveling last Thursdays 10"+ of snow.

Weather like this is very scenic to watch from my lounge chair and our felines seem to like to get close and lay down by the windows or the floor length glass doors.

Just a topic for me to ramble!

2-4" predicted here in Wisconsin today. I also enjoy sitting by the fire and watching it fall. My husband will feel differently when we need to clear the driveway and walks.

John, with all your health issues what the heck are doing shoveling your snow...isn't there someone....or some company...that you could pay to do it for you.....

Why take the chance something could happen to you....and your back in the hospital or worse...who could take care of you...who would take care of your wife, Cindy....who isn't in good health either....

Please take care of yourself...

Here in Ohio, we have barely seen a flake drift from the sky this season yet. Up near the lake they have had a little, but none of the state has seen anything near normal.

And I'm not complaining about that one bit!

Here in Chicago we got a light dusting of snow & then came the rain, heavy & high winds, so freezing is a problem

Stay Safe & Warm. Hopefully this mess will miss you. We were suppose to get 1" ice on power lines, lose power, more rain, sleet & 6-8" snow. We got rain, sleet & some snow but nothing like what they were saying we were going to get. Lots of people in the state without power. We are lucky again as our power is still on. It's just going to take a while to melt with the cold temps we will have.

I have a rare day off today and am loving watching it snow and blow from inside instead of my usual outside driving around in it.

Thank you for your concern for my wife and myself. Sometimes, moreso as I age, I am as dumb as a rock. I bought a big snowblower when we moved here. Used it every winter and it sure made that job much easier. Could not use it on our sidewalks as it was too wide.

After my 1st heart attack(which was July 5th), my heart doc gave me the green light to use the snowblower, no shoveling, but to use my common sense when doing so. That is what I did till my 2nd heart attack(Sept. 12, 2007). He then told me no nothing when it came to removing snow.

To keep from being tempted I sold the snowblower to a co-worker who was looking for one. I then contracted with the guy that doing the snow for my sister for years. Used him for quite a few years. My neighbor did snowplowing in the winter/asphalt company in other months.

Decided to go with her as she was cheaper and did our driveway first. My wife needed to get out early when her job hours moved to starting at 6am. Our first guy couldn't get here that early. Worked out good for a few winters, and then she got injured in a car wreck and sold her company.

Her man friend moved in with her to take care of her and he parked his bobcat there. We made an agreement that he would plow our driveway and I would mow his front acreage. Worked ok for 2 winters, but it took me an hour to mow and 10 minutes for him to plow.

I no longer see the bobcat and he works night hours and I have not seen him. We had some snow earlier this winter(4") and he shoveled about 10% of our driveway. I have not seen him and his cell number has changed. Sooo! It was shovel so my wife could get to her Christmas party.

I am now trying to find someone to do the snow removal and hopefully soon. Appreciate your concern for both of us.

Grrrr. The snow. It slows down the arrival of my purchases as planes and trucks cannot transport the goods until there's some calm and things are safe. Guess they will arrive in late Spring.

Thanks for responding, John.....I sure hope you can find someone soon.....I am hoping that 2016 brings you and Cindy a year of not having to spend time in the Hospital...for any reason....

@hckynutjohn, I am so relieved you are looking for a shoveler. When I moved into my house in town a couple of years ago, I looked in the Yellow Pages since everyone I knew did their own removal. I found one listed as "The Snowman." !!! Seemed like a good omen. His crew shows up if there is 2" or more, they're here and gone in 15 minutes. Charges me $65.00, which I think is a steal. I stay warm and dry and he feeds his family!

I'm in the Fox cities. We're getting 9 - 12 inches. It started here around 2pm.
